Hi, new member but already love the site! Beeing environmentalist I look for alternatives and use stickytape instead of spray. Works fine so far. Your experience when spray is necessary? Peggy

i use a tad spray and pin around hoop with silk dress pins to hold in place. I mainly hoop only the stabilizer and pin the project to stabilizer. this is easier with arthritic hands and it works. I also use the the magna hoop and like it also.

Love to know that you are enviromentalist! I do not like spray, but for a different reason, I use magic tape instead and works great.Welcome to cute.****

Thanks Maria! I find most people are, only we don't talk all that much about it and then its easy tp forget about how importat also the small things are. I'll get some of that magic tape, I remember it is easier to lift off, thanks for the reminder!

Hello and Welcome! I'm happy you are here. Lovely quilts. I use curved safety pins to put my "quilt sandwich" together. I usually pin about every 5-6". When embroidering on a t-shirt, I just can't seem to get it right with basting or other methods, SO I use Sulky KK2000.It is certified by the Art Creative Material Institute, conforms to ASTM D 4236,is Ozone friendly with no CFC's or HCFC's, is non-toxic, odorless and clear. No I don't own any stock,(but I wish I did) I have just done research on the sprays. I hope you are finding your way around and having fun.;)

thnks jrob! T-shirts I have avoided so far... but Im usually up for a challenge so maybe that will be the second gift for my daughters birthday next week. Of course with a saying about mornings and coffee. Very very good to get that info on sulky, saves a lot of time to have your research instead of making one!

thank you Shirlene! I've been following a few sites the past year and finally decided to put some effort into it, and then the choice of site was simple as I knew I would feel at home here.

I use spray for in the hoop projects. 505 brand is great. It is ODORLESS, colorless, doesn't gum the needle and etc.

Thanks clawton! As I'm allergic to some smells, this was a very valuable tip!

Welcome to the Fmly lerman. I love your work u have posted in projects. I do not use spray sticky. I use pins to pin item to stabilizer then run basting threads to hold fabric in hoop on stabilizer. This works best for me. *

hello and welcome to Cute :) I also do not like to use spray, I only use it to temporarily attach quilt tops and back to batting since I don't have much experience with quilting I find it helps keep them together and avoid them slipping while quilting. I use my sewing machine (designer 1) to quilt my quilts so it can be quite a hassle sometimes without spray. In embroidery projects I have never used it so far even though some projects ask for it I try to avoid it. Maybe other cuties have other suggestions as always. Have a nice day, Anna.

Thanks Anna, also for your experiences! I have an old Viking Designer II and sometimes use bad language when I try to fit the huge quilt and keep all layers together.. I'll try to make it easier next time with some spray! Happy sewing! /Peggy
