Some metallics unwid best if place in horizontal position, some unwind better from upright position, some are better as close as possible to the machine's threading system, others are best placed on a stand separate to the machine.....
But regardless of where or how you place the thread they all benefit from having a thread net to keep the thread from unraveeling off the spool too quickly.
Below you will find the link to making cheap thread nets.

try and either put it on a stand away from the machine... you can try putting on of your threasd holders that you would use on your machine on when using the stand... some put it in the freezer for a 1/2 hr before using hope any of this helps :)

if the thread is unwinding and when sewing then turn the reel over. normaly what is happening is you are undoing the twist on the thread this causes problems and then breakages. to see what i mean jsut twist two threads together and then roll the ends in oposite directions you can see the thread untwist and come apart. hope this helps annie in the uk

Lisa, Metallic Thread is known for being a twisting mess, most of the time - but lots of different people have found ways to tame it some - as Jerrilyn as suggested with the peanut - you can also use a netting around the thread spool - I also put mine on a thread stand - to the front and side of my machine and I use a metallic needle - I have not used the brand that you have suggested - I have only used the kind sold at the Embroidery Store - 1-800-333-9757 - I don't have very much trouble with the large spools and have heard that the larger the spool on metallic - the less is twists - Hehehe! Good luck and also check out the other Q&A's in this posting, too. Hugs, Shirlene

It's just the nature of the beast! Look at my previous answer to sewing with metallic threads.
PS on other threads, I have found that my machine is much happier when thread is coming off the spool counter clockwise. I use mostly Sulky. I don't know if it is the machine or the manner in which the manufacturer puts the thread onto the spool. You will just have to pay attention to what your baby wants. Remember when our children were babies and we knew the difference between, hungry, wet, lonely, bored cries? I'm getting there with my machine now that I learned to "listen". (smiling)
