There are no instructions about oiling my machines (Brother). I do not live close to a dealer, and surely these machines must need oil from time to time?

Any advice from cuties please.

I have the Innovis 750D and the lady at the sewing machine shop said it doesn't need oiling.

Do Not oil your machine. I too have a brother and they do not require oiling. Go to the brother website.

Machines are greased by the repair guy/service technician, which should be done about every 2 years. You'll be surprised at how quiet your machine will be afterwards (and mine had crayons in it - who knew? lol). In most machines however you can add ONE drop of machine oil into the centre of the bobbin casing (it looks like a little felt pad if you have it, if not, dont add oil).

I dont live close to a dealer either, and I miss my machines when they go, coz it takes 3 weeks to get them back :( So worth the money and the wait tho, as they come back like new :D

I bought a Brother Galaxy in 1993, my daughter still uses it and it has never been oiled - and it should not. Same applies to my Brother PE 190D - don't oil, but clean the bobbin case regularly.

Sweetie, list your model and maybe someone will have a book to look up for you. I have Bernina 730 and a occasional drop in the hook area is all that is required, but I would not dare tell you to do that unless the book said to.

I also have 2 Brother machines...Do Not Oil Them! These machinesare pre oiled at the factory and do not need oiling...in fact sometimes it can harm your machine!Your machines are a big investment so do as the dealers (& manufactures) say. I know that the temptation is there for those of us who have been sewing for sometime on older machines, but protect and enjoy your investment and let your dealer do a yearly check. Hugs and*** Welcome!

I have never oiled my machine. I live a 2 hour journey each way from my dealer and it is well worth the journey to see him, part of the bill is for his advice. My machine sees him yearly. I seem to remember that some machines are made in such a way that there is oil in the metal and seem to think this is the case with my trusty (elderly) Bernina. My dealer is a mine of information so I will ask about the oiling when I next see/speak to him. I have had my machine for about 5 years and I am sure if it were to be oiled I would have done so by now. Just think of the damage you could do to the computer part... doesnot bear thinking about. Sorry for the long reply. Ah forgot to say my machine is a Brother too (Galaxie 3,000)
