It is 10 pm and sudden darkness and silence. I am wondering what will my machine do when power is restored? Have just raised the needle bar and foot - not sure if I will have to start all over! What do you think?

A Battery backup surge protector is a must for me here as we are at the end of the power grid. Lot of surges & power outages. I always save my designs on my machine when stitching so it is easy to reload & skip to the last stitch number on machine, it is worth it. most times the design will finish. also my desktop computer is conected to the surger so I have time to save everything & shut down. *4u all

Does your machine not have a temporary save feature?

I'm afraid if I was 80% through a design and this happened, I wouldn't care how long it took me, I would have to jump through the stitches until I got to where I was up to and start from there again.

Thanfully my machines all have a save feature and will bring the design back up if there is a power failure. My Elna does it automatically without me even having to save the design.

Sorry I know this doesn't help you and I really feel for you.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

Morning Cuties! Power is back, but my machine Bernina Deco, abondoned the design! As if it had completed the design. Not sure if it is because I raised the foot and needle bar? I know I can go 10 stitches forward at a time, but that is not worth the effort - more than 11 000 stitches I will have to do! I think I should have done nothing, and it would have completed the design. Thanks for your comments and advice here. For those who feel a little cold: It is 6am and still 25 degrees inside the house - we sleep with aircon on in bedroom - gets to 37+ outside during the day, and will soon reach 41 degrees! In about 3 hrs time will switch on aircons again. Had some rain last night! Enjoy your Sunday!

Such a shame!

Oh, I feel for you. This is why if I move my design at all to center or have to align it I write down the coordinates so I can restart at the same place. Of course if you didn't move it then finding your spot shouldn't be too hard.

Oh, my goodness, that is not so nice. I see that got good advice. This is just to let you know that I hope the machine will be able to just go on when power goes on.
Good luck and God bless.
Marietta.

The new Viking Diamond has an auto save where you can go right to the stitch it quit. However, I suggest that everyone have their machine plugged into a battery backup surge protector. I have had my power go out and the machine just keeps on going. You can get about an hour or more sewing time when the power goes out...well worth the money for the thing! Since we have a lot of power outages (squirrels get in & chew on the wires at the transformers! Fried squirrel) this is one of my better purchases. Can get one anywhere they sell computers...it's actually for your computer, but our machines are computers! Hope you can pick up where you lost it!!

Suzette, if your machine is one of the newest - you can have a power failure and it will start up - right where it left of - mine does that - thank goodness - my Mother's does not - but I can advance it to where or close to where it was - when the power goes out. I hope you saved it. Let us know. *4U

If you saved the design on your computer and then transfered the design to your embroidery machine with out making any other changes, you can reload the design to the sewing machine and start off where you left off. DO NOT remove the embroidery from the hoop. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

You probably will need to start over unless your machine runs from the computer, then it should still be where you left off. I'm assuming your computer is wireless or else you wouldn't be posting.;)
