Thank you for all of the help with my question. My husband bought the embird and is going to learn to digitize. He said if I like embroidering I can get another machine in a few months.

Well you are one lucky woman. We on Cute look forward to hearing how the digitising goes. Good Luck to your husband with his digitising and maybe we will see some of his results?

I am sure you will be extremely happy with Embird. I hope my links helped.

Now the very best thing I could do for you and DH is to give you the link to Flying Needles Embird Tutorials.

You join for a yearly fee, and every month you receive a complete tutorial, videos, text and graphics, on a different aspect of digitising.

This has got to be the absolute best value on the net for learning Embird. The video instruction makes it so easy to learn. (though I haven't had time to do any of them yet I have saved all of them for when I do have time)

You pay the same amount for the year, regardless of when you join, but you go back and download ALL the tutorials provided for the whole year,
eg, Join now (November) but download all eleven (11) tutorials provided since January 2009.

She has several different clubs you can join, and if they weren't any good, I certainly would not recommend them to you. You also have access to the Flying needles yahoo group to ask questions and get help from Kathy and/or other members.
Check out her website and email her if you are unsure which club you should join. She also has several free tutorials you can download to give you an idea of what you will be getting.

Hugs n roses, it's onward and upward from here, Meganne

In the summer Manhattan and the Hamptons. In winter Palm Springs.

harmzen by harmzen 13 Nov 2009

Tks, have been to Palm Springs once when we were in Florida in April. Love to see more of your country, maybe one day.

I'm sorry I should have been more precise Palm Springs CA.

Hiiiii and again welcome! Once you begin to 'play' with your patterns you'll wonder if you should leave it as is or make some changes and that's what will take up your time!!
Lucky woman with a hubby who will share your interest so take advantage he he
example of making changes to a pattern. On the left, the original and on the right, color changes plus laced sides.

embroidering is additive LOL you start looking at everything as what can I do with it LOL last xmas I made stockings for every family member with their names and designs on it, besides it turned the hats and mittens I make for all the children personalized. initials on the mittens and a design on the hat. My aunt even came over an had me put names on her grandchildrens gifts LOL
wedding gifts are now a breeze personalized towels soap and toilet paper , baby showers are burp clothes, towels, and of course a quilt themed to the baby.
Welcome to the embroidery family

I do hope you are right about the addiction. I do so many things on a whim and I tend to get bored easily. My husband is a great supporter of whatever I try. He did chuckle when I told him I was going to make a family blanket, so I at least have to accomplish this much!
