I have been wondering about the deduper too. Do any of you have Windows 7 Ultimate and if so, does it run properly on it? Thanks, *4u

I've only JUST installed Embroidery Deduper and it goes straight from the install, to the very easy registration process and straight on to run your very first Dedupe.

This is something to watch for as you need to remember to set up your preferences before you run this first deduping.
The Program does bring up a warning text box to remind you to do this though, so as long as you read any text message that pops up you will do fine.

So far, after only about 5 minutes, I can tell you all this is a VERY user friendly program.

Preferences are very easy to set up and you can change them to suit your own requirements.

For example, I am trying to clean up Pauline's folders, so my preferences for this job will be set up specifically to look for jef files instead of say, pes files.

Also I would want any zipped files (after they are opened) to be moved to the Folder containing Pauline's zip files, rather than where my own zipped files are stored.

I can change these preference settings back to suit my own embroidery design folders, once I have finished this job. Easy Peasy.

So far, so good. I am considerably impressed with the simplicity of this program.

I haven't completed a full dedupe yet so I will write more after dinner when I've had a chance to go right through the process.

Watch this space...................

I am worried that it might delete a lot of files in different formats from your own, that you want to keep. Will follow your comments with interest Meganne

Keeping an eye on this for further updates. Looks as though I will buy this program too. I hope I can call on you for advice

To Raels,
I have already received an email from Clay at Grans Workroom. I don't think you would have any problems getting help from them, they seem to be very obliging. But of course I would always be available to ask also.

And to Edith,
you select the formats you want to keep and it doesn't delete anything unless you tell it to.

You can tell it to move the duplicates to a specified folder so you can check them first and delete them yourself.
At least you will know they are duplicates.

Hi Carol, I have just bought ED and am waiting for my download code and instructions.
If you can wait a week, until I've had a chance to use it, I will let you know what I think of it.

hugs n roses, Meganne

I don't have it but I think I saw somewhere that it can only be registered on 1 computer, you have to get permission to use it on more than I. I could be wrong but would like to know as I have played with the idea of getting 1. Only problem is ---I use 2 comps.

Yeah that is my problem to but

meganne by meganne 15 Nov 2009

You should network your computers, then you only need the program on one as you can access your files from either.

I have Deduper - but, I got it at a different site when it was on sale. For myself, I am happy I bought it. I wanted something that would unzip a group of files and isolate my zip files and remove unwanted files. I have to admit, I don't know all the ins and outs of it yet, as, I believe it will do more than what I need. They have a tutorial on that site - go thru it and that will pretty much tell you if it will meet your needs. Hope that helps!!!* Laura
