My eldest daughter is getting married next year and she wants to have champagne glasses filled with love heart chocolates inside and tulle tied around the glass as a party favour (sorry dont know how to spell the bon bon word). I thought of embroidering her and her fiance initials on the tulle. I tried yesterday using heavy water soluble (ultra solvy) as the bottom and a light weight water soluble film as the top layer. I wasn't too impressed with the results as the initials were "crinkled" after I dissolved the ultra solvy in water and then I gave it a light iron on low heat. Should I have used the ultra solvy as the top and bottom layer or do you think I should use a tear away layer on the bottom aswell? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ingrid, congratualtions on the upcoming marriage. I do believe that you should try to get someone to digitize some FSL initials for you - that way - when you stitch them on the WSS and the tulle - they will be free standing and work out for you. *4U

Thank you. I am going to try myself with PE Design. Not sure how it will turn out but once we've decided which is the best one I will post it here.

I did have some success using organza, which was frightfully expensive. The design was good however, and I believe I used a light weight tear away.

Thank you. Will buy a small amount and see how that goes.

You have the right idea with the WSS, however the tuile will not support a dense design, once the wss has been washed away. You will need to use something that's designed as FSL or an outline design. You might try organza, but it will support only slightly more than the tuile. If you use a tear-away it might show. Do a test stich to find out how it holds up.

I am no expert but have recently done something similar to these. I used vilene solvy on top and bottom with excellent results
