Kazza, I think what Deb (dkjack) is talking about is doing a long satin stitch, but "anchoring" it at the end you don't want loose with the bean stitch, not go around the whole stitch. A bean stitch is also called a triple stitch, just three little stitches one over the top of the other. It is a wide satin stitch, but it is anchored with triple or bean stitch to hold one edge of it in place.

thanks - so do the wide satin stitch and then go round it with a triple stitch and that would be enough to hold it in place? and what is a bean stitch?
