A Friend of mine got me into quilting about 3 1/2 years ago. I have made rag quilts and baby ones. I recently sent my first big quilt off to be quilted. It is paper pieced and my favorite by far. I am so excited to get it back. Every new quilt is just more excitment. Have fun.
I do feel your enthusiasm - can't wait to see what you make. And you do have to keep your wits about you, too. *4U
Oh how fun! I look forward to learning quilting, thank you for sharing your experience. Be sure to post your successful completion, I am certain it will be lovely. Blessings and may the Lord provide all you need!
Sounds like you had heaps of fun Marietta, if I ever find enough time and patience I might do a full-size quilt - so far I've only done one wall hanging type quilt. Love and hugs sweetie, and you continue to enjoy.
MArietta, it is good to see you enthousiastic about the classes. I can feel your enthousiasm all the way up here in Holland, can you imagine. And yes, it is difficult to finsh all the other things before working on the wuilting again. Keep stron and enjoy your classes.
I'm so very glad you're enjoying yourself!! Just a note about material, I found a website, www.connectingthreads.com, which has fabulous all cotton material for about $5.95USD a yard! And it's just the most wonderful material, so soft and lovely hand. I don't know what shipping to OZ would be, that's seems always expensive, but the material is to die for. I'm thinking about purchasing lengths and making sheets out of it, it's so lovely. They also have cotton quilting thread, very cheap, great quality. Hugs, Marji

Marietta, I'm so happy for you, it's always so exciting when learning something new. Love and blessings, Yoriko
Marietta,
Glad you enjoyed your class. I have not as yet done a quilt, but have done some quilt work on bags etc. and done my own thing with wall hangings.
Hugs Yvonne
Thanks Yvonne, and I bet you enjoyed doing those, as much as I did mine. Hugs.
God bless

Woohoo! I can't wait until my class on Monday.
After watching all the technical quilting of the "Purists" on Simply Quilts I feel a bit daunted, but then I think as long as I like what I've done it doesn't have to be technically correct, does it??? :-)
I've stitched up the blocks I was given as homework and felt good about what I did, though I didn't cut them and they weren't as square as I would have liked, so they probably won't be good enough.
We can share our achievements as we go, such fun.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
Will think of you on Monday, and I believe, if you like what you are doing, it must be beautifull.
Think you will be first to be able to show and tell, because I am burning to work, but promised myself I will not touch it untill all "the other things" are done LOL.
Must say it is difficult not to at least try, even for just a hour. Ooooh my goodness. LOL
About it being "perfect". I once read that nothing is realy well done if it does not have one or two mistakes in it. So you go girl !!!!!
Hugs and God bless
Well, "quilt purists" are just trying to reproduce what our grandmothers did. And our grands did it that way because it was all they had. Yes, quilts were all cotton, etc., but that's because the old clothes and curtains they made them out of were all cotton, there was no synthetic. Sometimes I think they get carried away with doing things 'properly', our grammas were just trying to keep their families warm, hee hee hee. I think it only matters if you're entering in a show, personally. Hugs, Marji
Hey Meg its only a rag quilt so it wont matter too much, as my DH always says" a blind man would be happy to see it" C u tomorrow :)
I hear and remember your excitement! It still feels that way to me sometimes. Have a wonderful time and don't worry about costs if you can help it, because you are making heirlooms that will pass down through many generations.;)
Thanks Jerrilyn, you know I never thought I could enjoy something, I always wanted to do so much. Must say had to close my eyes tightly, when paying, but because of extra work I did for some-one, I could make myself pay without feeling too quilty. LOL
Merci beaucoup; best of luck to you on your projects!
