Okay Cuties, I have only used my basting stitch after I have hooped an entire project. So what I need to know, I hate hooping towels... do you spray, use sticky stabelizer & how do you line it up

Don't use the sticky stuff..it pulls the loops of the terry. I, too, pin it in after I've centered it, then push the "fix" (baste) on my machine & it goes to the first corner. Then I slid the WSS on top of the towel and using my foot petal instead of pushing "start" I baste the WSS AND the towel in the hoop together. If you can use the foot petal, you can go slower, stop quicker if you need to, and have more control.

Peggy, I hoop the stabilizer and pin the towel along with WSS topping - aligning it to the hoop - pin the excess towel out of the way and stitch away.

Peggy I do it just like americangirl told you with no problems I never use the sticky stuff. Just line it up, Pin the clear wss on top, baste, remove pins then embroider. *

I don't hoop towels. I just pin the towel to the stabilizer that's outside the hoop so the pins aren't in the way. I use tear away or WSS depending on the design. First I hoop the stabilizer and put it in the machine. Mark the towel, drop the needle down into the center mark, and put the presser foot down. Gently finger press the towel to from the center out, to flatten it in the hoop, and pin outsied the hoop. You could spray the stabilizer if you want. I did until I got the hang of it. Then stitch away.

I always hoop my towels because otherwise it is too hard to align on my point of view! Definitely, do not use spray nor sticky stabelizer, you risk to damage your towel more than the risk of the burn in your hoop... Pat

I have always hooped my towels, but it limits the loftyness I buy. As some are just too bulky.

I never hoop any of the things I embroider. I fold my towel in half to get the center, do my template and just pin it in place. I smooth the towel put my topping and pin it in my light weight stabilizer. I t maybe a lot of pinning but it has a good result.

I never hoop towels, it is just too hard. I hoop the stabilizer. If I use basting stitches I do it after everything is lined up. You can measure and check to see where the design will go, or use the template that came with your hoops to make sure you are square. I always use a WSS topping on top of the towels too. If you have any others question on how I do it I will be glad to help you, just PM me.
Good luck, it is a breeze! I'm sure you will get a lot of good answers to this one. Seems we all have are own way.
:o)

Peggy, just go to private, type in americangirl or whoever you want to PM and then type whatever you want to tell/ask in the box and send it. I'll send you one so you can see it come it. You will see +1.
