The Dr.seemed very pleased with the job he had done with the grafts. Vanessa, the attending, told me to go and get me some support stockings and she would not put the bandage back on the left leg Friday. They have to have a compression bandage but they think support stockings will do the trick instead of compression stockings. It will be so nice when the other leg heals also! I will be so glad to get back in the shower! This has been a long haul and it is not over yet! Linda

Thanks for the well wishes! I am getting anxious now! Patience is not one of my virtures! I do have a wonderful P.T. and she makes you feel good even if you don't! The Dr. is only there on Monday's but he is a very smart Dr! I have been lucky since I moved to the Atlanta area as far as medical help goes! I have done everything that I have been told to do and have followed orders just as they were given to me even if it sounded off the wall. Getting me to the Dr. in the first place was the hard thing! After the 1st Dr. nearly killed me 6 yrs. ago, I was in no hurry to go again. This experience has been nothing like the 1st one. I have been blessed in alot of ways! Linda

Welcome to the group! This is a very close knit group. I am sure you will learn to love it like all of us has. You can learn alot by reading and asking questions. We have have some embroidery experts in this group that can do anything with their machines! Just take a look in projects and see all the beautiful work!
This is my 2nd go round with the ulcers on my legs caused from poor circulation. It was almost 6 yrs. ago when I had surgery in my small hometown and nearly died. I was 57. I am 62 now. I stayed in a nursing home flat on my back for 8 months. This time I have had out-patient surgery twice a week for many weeks and got in my car and drove home. BIG difference! The Dr's in the Atlanta area are much more qualified to handle this type of condition. I was so terrified to go back to a Dr for this that my legs got in bad shape. If I had gone to start with, they would probably be well by now. I was just terrified of going through what I had to go through the 1st time. I have been blessed! Linda

Thanks, Yoriko! It looks like it is going to be a while before the right leg is healed but it is on it's way! I do have 1 leg I do not have to worry about now! Everyone's prayers have meant alot to me. It has been a rough, long year for me and our family but things are looking up health wise. I am hoping the other will fall in place soon for both our families. I too have been thinking about you alot and praying. It seems to me that the ones that work the hardest and want to work are the ones that are having the hardest time finding a job. That does not make sense to me. My problem is that I can not hold out to work enough to make a living and if I go back to work, then I can not get my disability, which is not enough to live off of either. My arthritis has gotten so bad since they put me on antibiotics that I can not walk without my walker. I can barely use my right hand and now it has also gone into my arm and sholder. They changed my meds but it has not helped. My fingers on my right hand are pulling toward my pinkie finger. It seems to never stop. I guess old age has set in and there is nothing I can do about that! Hugs and Prayers to you also! Linda

Thanks for the prayers! there have been alot said for me and from me! My legs were in horrible shape just a few months ago and now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have been fighting these ulcers for 7 years now. I had surgery once in Sandersville, Ga. and the Dr. destroyed my legs and I almost lost my life. I ended up in a nursing home for 8 months flat on my back, at 57 yrs old. It was touch and go for a couple of months. I have never been so terrified in my life except when my son had his heart attack at 42. They kept me drugged out of my head and it never touched the pain. I ran my house out of the bed and with the help of my best friend. If it had not been for her, I would have died. She loaded my butt in her car and took me to the hospital and checked me in. She looked after my home for 8 months and came to see me twice a week for 8 months. I was not in the same town that we lived in. She brought me everything I needed while I was in the nursing home. I owe her my life. Of course none of us could have done it without the Lord! Linda

You are blessed the Lord sent you such a wonderful friend!
My mum had ulcers on her legs a couple of years ago, she managed to heal them over a period of about six or eight months I think it was. I know at times she said the pain nearly drove her insane.
Blessings

CONGRATs and GOOD WORK!!!! There is a difference between compression and support...you should be able to get a pair of compression at either walgreens or walmart!!

They are going to try out the support to start with and see if they will be enough. I sure hope so! I do not have enough strength in my hands and arms to get on anything any stronger. This arthritis is just about to take over my whole body. The only thing that has ever helped me is Mon-A-Vie and my son is no longer selling it. I can not afford to buy it. It cost more than a bottle of fine wine. I was going through a bottle a week and could have used more but Brian was being nice and giving it to me. Of course, he was not paying that much for it when he was selling it. My DIL's mother is 80 and in very bad shape and she said it helped her also. She lives off of less money than I do. I worked all my life until I had to quit. I don't think Ms. Sybil ever worked on a public job. I am not real sure but I don't think so. She is getting SSI and I am getting disability. She is on Medicaid(sp) and I am on Medicare because of the difference in our age ,I think. I am 62. My DIL is helping her Mom.
They told me there was a device that I could get to help me get them on if I had to wear compression stockings. Dear Lord please do not make me have to wear anything any tighter than support!!
