by Brother. I loaded the file and went to my machine. Place the card, turn on machine . . . what is that loud whining noise? After several different tries and a few words I can't type here, I resigned that a visit to the dealer was needed. I did not relish the 80 mile drive (one-way). After checking my troubleshooting guides and the help menu, I just happened to notice that the file size had inadvertently been changed on the PED-Basic screen. The file I had chosen to test was actually a 5x7. When it was changed back to the 4x4 format the Bernina requires everything worked just like it is supposed to.

Whew!! Wonder how much a service call for a non-existent problem would run?

WE ARE NOT ALONE!!!

When (ex) hubby and I were in business (washing machine, dryer, fridge/freezer repairs) I used to take all the job phone calls and time and time again
I would take calls from irate ladies saying they'd just had their machine fixed, and now it wouldn't go at all, and what kind or repair shop were we running!!!

When eventually I could get them calmed down enough to talk to them rationally I would suggest they check the power switch on the wall.....

Our mechanics delighted in turning the switches off after finishing the repair, just to see how many women would actually check this before they rang our office to complain. LOL!!!

Their apologies were always very subdued!!! :-)
Hugs n roses, M

Hi Sandy in our house there is a saying "If nothing helps or worked out, please read the instructions." HA-HA. And it realy worked. Love Marie.

Been there and done something very much like that I went to my sisters, sat down at her machine and started to emb. Something was not right, as the machine sounded like I broke it, I had not put the emb. foot on. Oops glad it did not break anything. As I asked her what was wrong I realized what I had done. Yep sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes we are.

Glad u got it straightened out prior to the drive. I will usually try everything I can to figure out what the problem is before I take the trip. My repair man is 60 miles from me. *

Well, if you were in Georgia, we just shake our heads and say, "Bless her heart". Trust me, I've had my heart blessed so many times, it'll never need another one.

glad you figured it out. Sometimes, we just have to step back and rethink what we're doing. Cluttered minds I guess.

Not NUTS!!! Just like so many of us. We give ourselves so much to do in so little time. I know I often set myself one task, then notice another, then another... you will all recognise this I'm sure and the first task is still waiting to be done!.
But I so pleased you were able to see what had happened and set it right. I do hope the resulting applique was splendid as a reward to yourself.

Y'all are just too much!! Hee hee hee, glad you found the problem before you took the drive. Once the totally non-mechanical late DH was having a problem with his car, the engine was racing for no reason. Of course he panicked, and drove 120 miles to the Saturn dealer, fearing the absolute worst, because it was 2 days out of warranty. The mechanic took the floor mat out from being stuck under the gas pedal. I almost busted trying so hard not to laugh, because DH was not pleased, hee hee hee. Happens to the best of us!! Hugs, Marji

Don't think you are the only one .I think it was something in the air . Well, that's my answer and I'm sticking to it. I got my Phone bill yesterday and there were 22 calls I didn't make . So I called the number and talked to a very nice lady . After I told her my life story, She told me she wasn't home the day the calls were made . And I should call the phone company. When I hung up I noticed I had called the wrong number.

I'd say that you are one very clever NUT to sort out this problem on your own. Well done!!!

Great job! Saved driving, money, and you did it all by yourself. Great learning experience.
