zig zag them, they pull together as you sew.

haskins, I notice in the tutorial that Shirlene pointed you to, Kenny glues the bell pieces together.

Haskins, by now - you more than likely have this bell stitched and posted in the projects. I will sugguest that you got to the emblibrary site, if you have not. I have embroidered many a piece of lace, but have yet to make a bell - I did do a couple baskets that had a curbed edge on them and the way that I did it - was stitch it out - rinse it out - stitch it together - one section at a time - the last being the hardest to secure under the foot - but I started with the end that curved the most and would creat the most trouble - I hope you have success and can't wait to see your finished project. *4U

You got some advice. I usually do the zigzag stitch all along the edges to be joined. I use the clear heavy duty wash away and it usually tears away from the edges for easy sewing. I rinse it out after stitching together.

Yes, sews easier with stabilizer still in, it's softer.

Hi Haskins, marymoore is right. I'm not sure exactly which bells you are doing, but if the design is lacy, I would just tack (zigzag in one place for about 6-8 stitches) at the points where the sides touch. I find it easier to do this while the piece is still on the stabilizer. If that makes it difficult to see exactly where the two pieces go together, I take a little water on a Qtip and lightly rub the stabilizer away. Let it dry then match up the points. After sewing it at all the matching places, I tie (small knot) the tacking stitches. Rinse out most of the stabilizer , leaving some in to give body to the piece. Then go back and trim the tack ends close to the knots.

If the piece is solid (like some boxes and bowls for example), I zigzag right along the entire side. If you use the same color as the piece you are sewing, it'll just disappear into the piece.

I hope this helps. I adore FSL and am glad you tried it. If anything I've written is not clear, please PM me so I'll e sure to see it.

Anne
