dk that looks like what I call a canna lily & they have Yellow, bright red, & a salmon color flowers. Our Elephant Ear plants I have never known to bloom & their leaves are huge & real thick & fibrous. Your pic is lovely. *

Well my leaves are hug. That is why I fell in love with the plant. What ever it is, I am enjoying watching it bloom one flower every day. I think there is a total of 10 on this one stem.

Hey, wow, what a surprise for you! This flower is lovely, I would call that a canna, too. I love the picture of Kibby, looks like he's enjoying the flower, too. Thanks for sharing! Hugs,Marji

I've done some research this afternoon on my plant. If I look up elephant ears, I find it right away. Nothing said about it blooming. Just a large green plant. If I look up canna, I find one that looks like it called Canna "President". hahaha The only difference in all the other canna's I found had "red" around or in the leaves (real pretty) and mine are totally green like the "President". Wonder if my bulbs were mislabled since mine bloomed and I guess elephant ears don't. At least I can't find a picture of one blooming. Oh well, I'm happy with it. :)

Hey, enjoy it, whatever it is! Maybe those sneaky cannas mated with elephant ears and this is what you get, hee hee hee. You definitely have elephant ear leaves there, I can see them. Funny, but really pretty! Hugs, Marji

Your plant looks super. It looks like what I would call a canna lily. The plant I call elephants ear is totally different

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Isn't is odd how we know different plants by other names. All I know is this is the name on the package. :)

Nice bloom, the colour is gorgeous. It looks like what we call a 'canna'.

This bloom is gorgeous. Some new knowledge to store in my head. What climat do you live in? Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of a gladiola stalk.

Well not sure. It is not hummid to me because we moved to Boise from Texas where it IS diffently humid. Some here complain about humidity. I feel it is just perfect. I notice that I wax my furniture more because of the dryer climate. We have 4 seasons so I dig the bulbs up in the winter and store and replant in the spring.

I didn't either. None of the pictures in the seed catalogues ever said anythng. I have only seen huge green leaves on everything I have seen. You would have cracked up if you saw my face and little dance I did when I saw it. hahahaha
