the Dell Studio 17. I like the large screen and full keyboard. I'm hopeing it's faster. It's still dial-up but instead of 28.8...it's a whopping 56.6. Double but will it be faster???? Well, wish me luck on my latest adventure....

You are going to love your new laptop. Will wonder how you ever got along without it. Your poor old faithful probably wont see much of you anymore. LOL.

Good luck on your new computer! It's capable of being twice as fast, but it really depends on your phone lines. I have a 56.6 modem, but when I tried to use dial-up, the fastest speed I ever connected at was, are you ready, 14! Sometimes 11. We have very old phone lines out here, way out in the country. That's why we ended up with satellite, there's not even cable, obviously no DSL. You will wonder how you ever did without a laptop, you're really going to enjoy it!! Hugs, Marji

Thank you...I'm in the country too. I'm thinking about getting a satellite...but it's pretty costly...I'm scared to set up EarthLink...as I think it may have messed up Old Faithful...so I'm waitng...

We went with Hughes Net, personally I like it very much. But a local dealer installed it and set it up. Snow in the dish is a problem here, but other than that, no problem at all, it just works. When you're out in the sticks like us, there's really no other choice. I laugh at Verizon, because they're always advertising DSL to me in the mail, and every time I call, they tell me it's not available in my area. Why are you sending me mail, then? Goofballs, I wouldn't switch now anyway. Initial expense for satellite, but it's another thing you wouldn't be without again if you get it. I'll shut off the TV (direct tv, again no choice) and eat cat food before I lose the satellite.
