when a design says 5X7 hoop, does that mean the area for embroidery needed is 5X7 or is there actually a hoop this size? Thank you!

Re your Kimono Girls on SiCK: I have a couple of these designs. I reduced one for the 4x4 hoop, and the girl will only be a little less than 3" wide by 4" high. This is actually fairly small, even if you could reduce it on your machine. If you had software, you could get these and reduce them in the software, as long as it also reduced the number of stitches, otherwise you'd have a lot of stitches crammed into a smaller space. My Janome has a 5x7 hoop, which is also a little larger than 5x7, actually. If you go to the printed histograms on the design page on SiCK, you can see the actual height and width of the design, and the amount of thread required for each color. Good Luck! Hugs, Marji

You got correct answers about the 5x7 being the stitching area, however, the design could be a 5x5...it still won't fit in your 4x4 hoop area but would be signified as a 5x7 so that you would know whether or not you could stitch it out. The 5x7 is a standard embroidered area dimension. My 5x7 hoop stitching area actually measures 5 1/2 x 10 1/4 a bit confusing when you just start out. Hope this wasn't TMI (too much information). Welcome to cute and I'm happy you are here.;)

When I was in college, I wrote a 50 page paper on the black rhino... :-) Spent a year studying that little guy too. lol. 5x7 is the stitch area, however depending on which machine you own, you may not have the capability to sew a larger design.

Welcome to the CUTE group.

Welcome here. I'm also new and have learned a lot from other people. Try to make the design smaller if your machine can do it, but not too small otherwise the design will be spoiled.

What format are you using? I use pes and can increase and reduce patterns to the sizes I want. Spent half an hour today altering the pattern sizes for my closet Cutie friend

I am using Pes, but I don't know how to alter sizes yet. what program would I need to resize the designs?

Do you have PE design softwear and the card reader/writer?. Both these are needed. Please PM if details are needed

or let me know which design it is and I will reduce it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Darn I wanted to get the Kimono girls design from Sick but it won't fit. I have just a 4X4 embroidery space. Thank you for your help!
