I am almost done with this quilt. Here is the photo:

I am working on the binding right now. I need some ideas on the quilting. I was thinking of stipple stitch, but with these bright colors, I just dont know. This is my 2nd quilt. My 1st, I just stitched in the ditch, but the blocks were smaller.
I need ideas that would look good with these bright colors. Should I just go white, or match the colors each block?
If you have something you did that turned out well, please let me know!

Thanks!

I would sttich in the ditch around each block and then stipple quilt the stripes. I think the varigated red/white thread would look really cute. As for the binding I think I'd go with white and small so as not to take away from the stripes.....

You could try using a varigated thread, colour choices are great.

Gorgeous! Love bright colors. I might stitch in the ditch of both frame seams, and find a swirly design that my machine does down the center of the stripes. Dr Seuss makes me think of curly q's and squigglies-all those odd angles on the pages. That way both sides of the sashing are anchored and the designs stay calmer. What color is the binding? I'll be eager to see the finished quilt. It makes me smile.A * for you! Jo On the Projects page search box, Enter Landon's Quilt and Landon's quilt side 2 to see the one I made for my GS. I had made one just like it for my first GS and loved it, so I made another for the first quilt from Nana.

I think I will use white for the binding. I do like the idea of the squigglies. I think I will practice on some scrap first. I cant wait until its done. My first one was done quickly, but this one has taken nearly 2 weeks. I bought 4 of the Dr Seuss patterns online and digitized the other 4. It was my first attempt at digitizing. That took more time than the piecing!

What a natural. Second quilt and first digitizing and so good. As long as you are asking, I-myself-would use the red as a binding. It is evenly all over the quilt, and will anchor your eye in the quilt. A good frame for it.

When I have alot of colours I use a clear thread. Microtec I beleive it is called then the colour doesnt matter. Also I have used some very nice bright variegated threads that are good too. I used a primary coloured one and also have one of blues. Just an Idea hope it helps. Lisa Just saw pic very nice indeed.

Ha, I would match the colors in each of the blocks, on the red and white stripe ,I would use red thread. But it is your quilt do what you feel is right for you. I'm sure it is going to be very cute.

Hi,
Don't put the binding on until after you have done the quilting.
I think what would look nice on this quilt would be quilting a quarter of an inch inside each square using a matching colour thread.
If you want to do it by hand, perle 8 cotton is great to use, or hand embroidery threads.
And don't use white. That is too stark. If you don't want to use matching thread, use natural or cream.

Sorry, I see this is confusing. I do not know how to edit. Yes, I am cutting the binding and ironing it and getting it ready. I know to put the binding on last! I am also piecing the back out of the left over fabric I used on the front tonight. I just wanted some time to get a few ideas together to plan ahead.

I am doing it by machine. I did think of going in a quarter of an inch, but would that look ok with the red and white stripe strip sections?

Yes, it would look great if you match the thread colour to the block colour, eg red on red, yellow on yellow etc.
I think the whole quilt should look absolutely wonderful when you have finished.

I would probably not quilt on the borders, just on the blocks.

If you wanted to quilt the borders and sashing, red would be great.
