Just wanted to know if anyone out there has tried the Metro Emb thread. I have heard a lot about it. I bought some Medeira Rayon thread and I don't care for rayon thread.

Nanniesara, I love the Metro thread. Like everyone has said, the sheen of the thread and the way it stitches is beautiful. Also, I have used Madeira rayon thread with my ballpoint needles, and it has been fine. You might want to try a needle with a larger hole. Enjoy your thread. PS.I only use Organ needles.

I have tried several Brands of Rayon thread and had nothing but problems, especially with WHITE and BLACK colours. Then I bought Madeira Rayon thread and I can honestly say I now won't buy any other white or black thread. I use only Schmetz brand needles 11/75; 12/80 or 14/90 EMBROIDERY needles, NOT ball points as they are not meant for embroidery.
I have read many good reports about Metro threads and would buy them to try, but Aussies are restricted to buying full kits and then I don't like to have to use the Google payment system either. So until they set up PayPal I'll stick to buying Robison Anton from Shoppers Rule and Madeira from AllStitch Supplies.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

I love Metro, I have the 116 poly set. Never had a problem that wasn't caused by user error!

Have ordered Metro thread several times when they have a special on it. I use the big cones. You can't beat the price. I have had no problems with it at all. The colors are great. Customer service has been terrific and if they make a mistake in the order, they quickly correct it to your benefit. Would never hesitate to buy new colors as they become available.

I purchased their 116 spools not long ago. Great thread. No problems. As a matter of fact I just ordered the pre wound bobbins and received them in 3 days, (CA resident)and that was just regular mail delivery. The colors are great. This subject came up not long ago. I put the little number sticker on the bottom and I also put the colors in baggies. Put them in a container so when I need blue I pull the bag that has all the different shardes of blue, etc. works great. Buy the way I rec'd my 116 spools in 3 or 4 days also, service was quick. I was able to contact them and they returned my phone call. I'm sure you will enjoy the thread. *4u

Nanniesara, Here is my 2-cents. I have never tryed the Metro Emb. Thread. I have had trouble with the Madeira Rayon Thread also, I will never buy it again. I bought a set of poly thread from Thread Art, it shreds something awful, never buy there thread again either. I use rayon thread from Robinson-Anton. I love their thread. I have NEVER had any fading from washing my items in a clorax wash. I always use Schmetz Emb.Needles size 75 or 90. I think they are the best needles on the market, as I have tryed others with bad luck. H&*. Sorry, I forgot to tell you "Welcome"!!

I received their 116 spool package a couple of weeks ago. Oh, my the colors are beautiful and so far not a single problem stitching! It was so exciting when the box arrived and I put all the colors out on the table! A kind "cutie" here suggested putting their number label on the bottoms of the spool to make reordering easier - so, I did that. I hit upon a wonderful sale they were having and a coupon that was available on their site. Good luck!*

I must have missed out on the coupon, I actually found the site by accident. I just don't like not being able to call.Did your thread arrive as stated by ups or the company? Can't wait to try the thread. Colors look great.

I ordered and received my package 3 days later by UPS. I told everyone it was like receiving the very best new box of crayons ever!!! The colors are wonderful ... no problems yet!

I found that it is impossible to get in touch with anyone at the company I tried calling and got forwarded to another line and then nothing ever happened. So I hope they are not going out of business. I hope I get my thread today as promised.

I'm not sure you should be using a ball-point needle, Sara. Ball-points are meant for things like polyester, which will catch on a sharp. If the needle is not punching a good hole in the material and backing, your rayon may shred because of that, I think. Perhaps more needle experts can help you. I have heard Metro is great thread, and when I need more I'm going to try it myself. Hugs, Marji

Got my thread Friday and ordered more on Saturday, after giving it a test run. Now I can't wait to get the next batch. They are out of several colors, so I don't know when I will be able to complete the 116. But I am close. Sara nanniesara

Metro thread is awesome! I use Madeira rayon thread too without any trouble. I prefer rayon actually. Is your needle sharp and are you using a good quality stabilizer? Both of these can shred rayon thread.

When I first used the rayon thread, I virtually had no prob, then it started to break and I thought it was my machine and then, needles, I adjusted the tension and bought new needles ball point with large eye it did not help, got the right stabilizer I think, just depends on what I am sewing as to the stabilizer I use.

mops by mops 10 Jul 2009

I've used Madeira rayon for 16 years now and have no problems. I prefer rayon to poly as it's softer and has a great shine. I always used an embroidery needle, but since I bought a 4 needle machine that uses industrial needles I have used both with general sewing needles as well. The Metro is so cheap I'd love to give it a try, but postage and packing to Europe trebles the price.

I bought Metro, mine was poly. Maybe you used the wrong needle. Tell us what happened.

I have Metro poly coming tomorrow can't wait. I have Medeira Rayon and wish I could find a buyer for it cause I don't care for it. I tried the ball point with large and small eye needle made no difference.

I live in South Africa and use Marathon thread, no problem with it, but I was told my a saleslady if the thread breaks or shreds then you must put it in a plastic bag and in the deepfreezer for an hour. Keep it away from sunlight and heat. Hope the tip helps.

I haven't bought any rayon, but the polyester and love it. Alot less expesnive as well.
I never had any problems. I do have a friend that has to adjust her tension. Said it wasn't a 4 ply.
Rayon is not colorfast, which is one of the reasons i don't use it
