Maggie, as was stated the rule of thumb is $1 for each 1000 stitches - chances are you will never really ever get that on the larger stitch count items - such as lace - I like to think of it as $8-12 a hooping - that will cover all the supplies and my time to stitch them out - if you feel that is too high - try a couple dollars lower - then raise them as you feel the need or find that you require more for your work. Welcome to the CUTE family, Shirlene *4U

Someone recently asked this and the reply to the USA was $1 per 1,000 I think. If I am wrong many will correct me.
Hope you get the answer you need and good luck with the embroidering

Hi Maggie - I charge by looking at how long the design embroiders. In South Africa - a rand per minute. Work accordingly with your money unit. Good work sells itself. Enjoy the hobby !!

When I do embroidery for some one I charge by the stitch count. Or if it is all words I charg by the letter. You also have to take into play how the econome is where you live. I always have them provide the item to be embroidered on. Make sure you test the designds that you are sewing for others or you could end up distroying someones purchased item.Have fun.
