You can use Imac without having to install parallels-it can be set up to have both OS-pc and mac. Since not all machines recognize apple software, this can be overcome with a dual Os. Remember, parallels could possibly slow up the computer.
I read through the thread here ~ is there more current info on the use of a MAC?
I have a Mac (laptop) and I love it but is not compatible with any software (not that I know) so I have to use vmfusion ware to run Windows XP (I hate Vista!!! too many problems) to use my digitizing program, but is not perfect. I use my PC with Windows XP to digitize with my software but not to use it to surf on the internet, Windows gets viruses easily, even with antiviruses. Flower and XoXo
I use a Mac book pro and I digitize on it every day for my business. You need to run parallels on it which is a program that allows multiple operating systems to run on the laptop. You can run all pc window based programs this way. I use Generations every day, all day with no issues. It runs and performs much better than windows. I switched in May 2010 and will not go back to windows. Good luck

I also have a Windows Vista for my machine and I HATE IT!!!!! LOL More than once, I wanted to send the thing sailing out the window!
My sister doesn't do any embroidery, but she is into desk top publishing and scrap booking. She prefers the Mac. She also has Microsoft, so I guess it is a fair comparison.
I don't, but I bring this back to tnhe top so that other Cuties can help you with an answer.
