I usually have to go back to the design to get the colors and then it looks right to me. But it drives me nuts. Ihave to keep going back and forth.

Good answers to your question. There are so many thread manufacturers out there, and it depends on what manufacturer your machine defaults to, and if you can change it. I have a Janome 300E, and the machine defaults to (big surprise) Janome thread colors. So does the Janome digitizer pro. But I use RA, Isacord, Floriani threads. Most of the time if I download JEF, my machine format, the colors are acceptable, and I just substitute the colors I have. If I have to download HUS, DST, PES, some other format because JEF isn't offered, I have to convert them in my software, and then I have to change the colors because I get green roses with black leaves. If you don't have software, try downloading Tajima's Pulse converter, it's free. That way you can change the colors in the software to colors close to what you have, print it out or mark it down, and you'll be all set. I guess this is just something we have to live with, given all the different formats and thread manufacturers out there. Perhaps someday everyone will just be able to digitize in Pantone colors, and there will be a program that converts Pantone to every thread manufacturer's closest match. Best of luck to you!!! Marji

Welcome to Cute "tyco". I see you have a good answer from Ingrid Shirlene. Just wanted to let you know if you have any questions just ask - even if you think they are stupid? Someone else may be thinking the same thing and on this forum there are plenty of willing and able men and women to help us out.

Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle Australia.

Thanks everyone, now I don't feel all alone. I will try and get the color chart next time if I can.

What I do is to download the colour chart for the particular design and then I go into my Layout and Editing program (PE Design 7) and change the default thread manufacturer to the thread manufacturer that is stated on the colour chart I downloaded. Save the design and then the colours match the original design. I hope this helps somewhat. And Welcome.

I forgot to mention that once I change the thread manufacturer I then have to physcially change each thread to the correct thread. Sorry its a bit too early for me just yet, haven't woken up properly. lol

Have you contacted the designer? I know there are several sites that I go to - that I have trouble with that - but I know the designs are of good quality and price - so I don't mind changing the colors - I have adapted that process in the working with their files - more or less - sometimes - it is just one format that the designer has trouble with converting for one reason or another - sorry - this doesn't really help - just wanted you to know - that is isn't just you. Welcome to the CUTE family and *4U
