history. W/O going into a long sordid computer story re: crash, lost everything, and basically starting over. I went to retrieve all of my purchases from my history and some of the designs were no longer there. Of course it be the ones I purchased that had special meaning. The embroidery sites response was, " we periodically review our collection, and remove designs that we feel are not up to our standards". Huh? I certainly understand the ones accessible to the public but designs you've already paid for? Has anyone else ever had this issue and any responses would be greatly appreciated.

I have also encountered this but took it that I should have been more proactive in keeping my designs safe. Some sites won't redownload designs without purchase #'s and others won't do anything at all. You could contact their customer service and see what they say, however some of those designs have been pulled by the original digitizer so they can't control that, copyright, etc.

Thank you & everyone for reponses. I did contact customer service and their response was " we periodically review our collection, and remove designs that we feel are not up to our standards". They did give me a credit but honestly, I'd rather have the unique designs which I'm unable to replace from anyone else. I just wasn't aware of purchased designs being removed. I certainly understand if designs are retired, modified, and pulled from their website.

I put too much faith in thinking the history would always be available since the designs were paid for. I assumed once it was paid for, it stayed. Especially since the most recent purchase was in Nov. '08. I was very aware of what I needed to be doing with my computer re:backups etc. but I was trying to keep it going until a friend of mine could fix it for me. Unfortuately, the worst case scenario happened.

I don't know which site it was, but you might try explaining a little further, about the computer crash and losing the designs that were paid for, perhaps they can replace them for you. Some web sites offer an "order history" as a convenience, but it should never be used as a "backup"! Always back up all your designs onto CD's or DVD's or some other medium, just in case your computer does go 'flooey'. I view the 'order history' more like a safeguard for me, because I'm so forgetful that I might order a design twice, hee hee hee. As Jerrilyn said, web sites do have a limit for storage, and can remove designs any time. Perhaps they didn't understand that you were asking for a replacement of a purchased design, one would think they would have it stored somewhere, and be willing to help you. But, in the end, it's our responsibility to make sure we save designs. Do try contacting them again, and best of luck to you! Hugs, Marji

No, thankfully, I've never had this problem. I know that you are sad to loose some of your cherished designs, I would be too. I try to keep backups done every 2 weeks and keep them in a safe place. I suppose that once all space is used up, a site has no choice but to either add more space or dump some designs they feel are inferior. Wish I could help you. Leaving you a flower, anyway.
