Thanks for the fringe design. I would like to do it but do not have cut away stabilizer. Is there anything one can use as a substitute?

Sonie, if u r not going to wash this you could probably use tear away, try 2 layers & instead of tearing away cut instead so as not to loosen the threads. *

Just curious but is this design suppose to only use a cutaway stabilizer...I thought you used a specific stabilizer according to the fabric you are using..I have made fringed designs with other stabilzers..I just use water soluable thread in the bobbin when the fringed area sewed out in the design..Just curious..*4U for asking...

If you're just testing it, you could try felt as a stabilizer. It won't give you as good results as a true cut-away, but just for a test would probably be ok. I wouldn't do it on anything really good, but maybe on an old sweatshirt? You might also try putting the tear-away in the hoop with the felt on top, then your garment. This is not the best solution, but I know you're itching to try the design, hee hee hee. Test it out on something not good, though, using the felt!! Love, Marji
