ship really only used and knew Bernina machines. My question is: Does anyone know about the new digitizer software and which would be the best to buy? Should I stick with Janome or try another brand of digitizing software? Which is the easiest to learn and use? I've seen you all talk about so many different ones. I appreciate your advice.

I have Janome Digitizer Pro as well, and I really like it. I didn't have a lot of trouble learning it, because my dealer knows it and gives lessons, and also because I don't have trouble learning software. I personally think it's kind of silly to purchase other software when you don't know what the one you have will do. Take the time to go thru the website Ricky gave you, and work with the software you have. You should have gotten some kind of a manual with it, that will at least tell you what it's capable of. ANY software requires learning. And it depends what you're doing with it. Do you want to digitize, or just see your embroidery files and change them around if you wish. And as for your dealer, you might let her know that the Bernina and Janome software are both written by Wilcom, and while there are differences, they are not all that big. I just feel dealers should be able to service what they sell, not leave you hanging out on a limb. You paid good money for the machine, they should at least be able to give you some lessons on it. Can you tell I'm spoiled by having the world's most perfect dealer? Good luck to you!! Marji

Thanks so much, Marj! I do want to learn to digitize. You gave me some very good advice. I have been using the book and tutorials from the website. I even digitized a logo for my husband's business. But there are some things I can't find a reference to and don't know if the software doesn't do it or I'm just not finding it. I thought it might be easier to buy a new one and get lessons. Thanks for the encouragement-I will keep plugging away at it.

Just a thought. Are you sure that it was Digitizer 10000 that came with your machine and not Customizer 1000? The digitizer is a very expensive piece of software that turns images into embroidery designs. I would think it extremely unlikely that it came with your machine. The Customizer comes with the machine.Without it you wouldn't be able to open the jef file If you have any problems, just e-mail me. It is in my profile

I wondered that too, except Janome is eliminating Customizer. The new version of DigitizerPro is combining the 2 programs. My dealer did an introduction to the new version. Too much money for me. Anyway, DigitizerPro comes with the 11000, so Janome has to provide something for the rest of the machines to replace Customizer. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

For those with Digitizer pro, try this site. I haven't had a chance to have a good look at it, but it should help. These are videos on how to use Digitizer Pro.I will give more details a bit later about the forum for Janome.

I also have a 10001MC but mine came with Customizer. I had to buy DigitizerProMB,which was very expensive. MB is an upgrade from 10000. It works the same way with only a few new features. Go to the Janome website. They have some pretty decent tutorials for the software, and updates you may need. There's also a tutorial for making wing needle designs (also called Fil Tire) in Techniques. Don't spend more money on software until you learn to use what you have. Later when you find something with features you don't already have, you can purchase something else. Many people use more than one program.

Thanks a lot. I have been plugging through with the tutorials. I guess I got tired and decided it might be easier to just get something with lessons. The dealer told me the version I had was so old that he couldn't remember it so I could buy an upgrade when I asked if I could just sit in on the lessons for 11000 and not ask questions. He said it would be too different. Of course, that was a ploy to get me to purchase the new software. But, I did get the message that I wouldn't get any help there. Otherwise I love the machine and what I can do with it so far. I didn't know about Fil Tire. That is exciting! I'd like to learn redwork or if there is an auto feature to do redwork.

I don't know either. I have the PE Design software that I got with my Brother machine. I had lessons but haven't used it much. I don't know if I should bother to learn more about it or just start with something else.

I have digitizer pro for my MB4 and it is very confusing. You read one page (ie 24) and it says to go to page (ie 59)for futher instructions. I like the machine but the software is not the greatest.

That's been a problem for me, too. I think it is because it is just a reference for the lessons you should have received from the dealer.
