memory card in it. The card had always worked in my old Brother machine, and my even older Bernina machine. After sending the new machine back, the memory card no longer worked in either of my old machines. I figured the card went bad when the new machine kept locking up. SO....I ordered two new Embroidery cards. NEITHER of the new cards will work in either machine, either!! UGH!! They both work appear to be writing in teh card writer. I'm just curious....Is there any such thing as a VIRUS in an embroidery file??? Is it possible I have transferred a virus to both of the old Embroidery machines via the old memory card??? If so, is there any way I can clean it???

So glad you figured it out! Isn't it crazy when we cause ourselves such problems? Hope your answer will help others out sometime. Best of luck, Marji

This is true! It would be nice to know that I helped someone learn from my mistake.

I would have never thought of the formatting giving a problem with the machines. I'll defentally keep this in mind.
Thanks,

I had the same problem. After of looking I found that I had the wrong hoop size. What a relief I thought that something major had happened.

Yes, I was relieved! I DO wish I had figured it out before I ordered two more cards, though. They aren't cheap! Oh well...NOw I have plenty of space to store designs to have redily available.

No need to feel stupid as i am sure others may have done the same thing lets hope that this post will save a cutie from stressing that their machine or software is faulty or has a virus. On that note out of curiosity is it possible to transfer a virus from the card ?

I'm not sure about that. I would imagine if there was an infected file, that file would infect the computers that attempt to run it. Just a theory!!

Thank You. It was such a relief. I wish I had figured it out sooner, I wasn't able to use my favorite designs so I went a week without embroidering. Talk about withdrawl! YIKES!

I feel so stupid!!! I overlooked the obvious! I had set teh card reader to accept designs for a 5 X 7 hoop because the newest machine had that size embroidery field. My two old machines have a 4 X 4 embroidery field. SO...the card was formatted for teh wrong size hoop. Once I reset the Card reader to 4 X 4, and only used the correct size images....everything was fine. I've made myself look and feel VERY FOOLISH!

No idea at all, what an interesting question. I look forward - as you will to others replies. I do know that the PE design up to 4 card will not work in the reader for PE 5 and up. Will ask in my sewing machine shop when I contact them next
