If you recall, I was looking into an embroidery machine with the USB connectivity. Well, I ordered the Brother PE700II. What a disappointment!! THe USB HAS to be hooked to my laptop, and will only download 12 images (same as using the memory card). Not only that....after three whole days of use, the darned thing locked up on me at least 6 times. Needless to say, the machine is being returned. But the place I ordered it from will not give a refund. They will either fix or replace it. I hope they replace it, and I have better luck with the nest one. Thanks for letting me rant!

My Brother 750D has one serious problem so far....

it has only two speeds: fast and faster, even though it automatically slows down and speeds up while it is stitching, it is such a nuisance that I can't slow it down to stitchout FSL and it tends to constantly break the top thread and pull the centre of the designs away from their outlines.
Same thing doesn't happen at the slower speeds on the Designer Diamond. I may have to contact Brother for a solution, but I think it explains why there are so many of these machines available to purchase at special prices or with give-away Brother printers, and probably why I got mine "free" when we bought the Diamond.
hugs n roses, M

hmmmm...I guess I'm glad that I didn't even consider purchasing that one. I hope you get your problem resolved!

So sorry you are having such trouble...I would let the company know of your problems thru the main customer service department of Brother. They might not know of the trouble If the dealers aren't reporting it!

Well, it was picked up to be returned for repair or replacement. I guess I'll wait until I get it back and see if the issue is resolved. If it isn't....then, I WILL contact Brother. Thanks for the advice!

I have the 1500D and i love it would of liked the 4000 but couldn't justify the extra $2000 just for colour screen and usb flash drive and a few extra stitches. it does everything i need and ive had it for a year now :)trust me if theres a lemon to be had im usually the one that gets em lol

LOL! I know what you mean...I'm usually the one that gets the lemons, too. Guess I have just been fortunate in the past with the Brother Machines.

UGH! That is just too much to have to deal with! I pray that I don't have as many problems once I get it back! I'm sorry you have had so many issues with your machines. Thankfully, I DO still have my original machine to fall back on while I wait for the new one to come back.

I guess I'm lucky, my Brother dealer is only 10 minutes away. Usually a dealer has to be a certain distance from the next closest dealer so that they won't compete with each other. If you paid by credit card you should check on the return policy with your card. A lot of them will guarantee a return within a certain amount of time.

I never thought of checking with my credit card company. It might be too late now, though, since the machine ahs already been picked up for repair.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I know several that have the 700 and for a beginners they like it. I would ask for an exchange and contact the corperate office. My dealer fixes mine for free as long as I own it and I have 8 mo to trade up with what I paid for it as a down pmt on a new one. I almost went with a Janome, but a friend has had MAJOR problems with hers and the dealer does not know squat about them.
If you don't get anywehre, hire an attorney.
I really like my brother, other than hoop limitations.

I actually settled for that machine because my budget didn't allow for the machine with the larger embroidery field. I should have just saved longer and gotten the machine I really wanted. BUT...It might have taken FOREVER, and I didn't want to wait that long. LOL!

I hv the Brother Innovis 4000, you can plug your flash card right in to the machine. Copy designs to flash card, plug into machine, choose design (it holds quite a few I may add) & sew away.
Sorry your disappointed with your little machine, you obviously didn't hv a very good dealer.

See...that's what I wanted. Something that I could plug a memory card, or flash drive into, and hold more than 12 images. It gets annoying to have to keep wiping teh card clean because I want to put ONE different image on it.

Sounds like a crummy dealer to me. Check your state laws, you may have a time period where they must take it back and give you a full refund. Also, if you charged it, check with your lender, you may have options regardng defective purchases.

Actually, I ordered it online. Big Mistake! I just have difficulty finding teh opportunity to take the one hour drive to the nearest dealer. I'm sure it would have been worth the drive. I would have known exactly the type of USB connectivity the machine had, if I had actually SEEN it first.

Sorry to hear that. Wish you luck in solving the problem. Sounds like there is really something wrong with it.

I'm sure that it is just a fluke "lemon". I hope that they replace it with a new machine as opposed to trying to fix one that may be a constant problem.

Not sure which country you are in. In the UK anything you buy has to reach various standards and be fit for purpose. (your machine doesnot sound fit for purpose) Any reputable Brother dealer wants happy customers and should go to a lot of effort to keep them happy. Brother HQ would be very unhappy to hear your story. I have a Brother and use 5 others regularly and have used many others in the past. All of them have been brilliant as has the dealer I use who is well worth the effort of a 2 hour drive away. 2 hours being one way. Hope you can solve your problem. KEEP US POSTED on the outcome. Good Luck

Isn't that strange. My nearest brother dealer is a one hour drive away. As popular as theor machines are, It amazes me that there aren't more dealers within a reasonable driving distance.

Does anyone else out there have the 700? I was planning to buy one and I do LOVE Brother, but I was worried about the 700.

This is sad to hear waterlily. I have always found Brothers Machines to be loved by all. I started yrs. ago with a Singer that was the best that could b had 55 yrs ago, learned to sew on a singer treadle. singer's r not that gr8 anymore since the original people no longer own the co. I hope u get better satisfaction & another machine that you will be happy with. My machine now is an Ellegante 2 & although I have had some problems with it over the past couple of months I still love these Babylocks & I have a dealer who will call the factory while u stand there if u r unhappy. LOL He's unhappy if I'm unhappy & he let's them know about it. *4u & good luck
