I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

Well, for pity's sake!! There they are! I guess they expect you must be bored enough to read your boxes, hee hee hee. I never knew this. When I was in Home Ec I don't think there was such a thing as Saran Wrap. And when I was a kid, we still had to light the oven on the stove with a match, there was no pilot light. So much for learning stuff in Home Ec, hee hee hee. Thanks for sharing, although I must say the cats like it when I play "chase the Saran Wrap" all over the kitchen floor, they'll be disappointed. Oh my i just looked at mine and here in aussie land we have a home brand/black/gold and it has these small V shapped cuts on the side that you can push in to hol;d the roll nothing written on the side of the box but its there. So All Aussies have a look when shopping and see if other brands do THANX for the info it saves me chasing the roll around the kitchen floor hehehehe :)

I'm sorry that all of you didn't know this for all this time. If I'd known you didn't know, I would have shared a long time ago. =] My home economics teacher in 7th grade (so, decades ago) told us about this and she also had some little 'dohickies' that looked kind of like giant push-pins that she used on the rolls that don't have the built-in roll locks.

I actually check in the store before I buy to make sure I am getting a brand that has the locks, since I am not fortunate enough to have my own set of 'dohickies' (no, that is not the actual name of the things, but I don't know what they are really called, or even if you can still get them anywhere).

I don't use aluminum as it is not safe and I don't cook with any aluminum pot either. I have enough health probs don't need any more.

I've heard that aluminum 'may' be a contributor to alzheimer's too.
