To make it easier to find any further tutorials, I'm going to be adding them to the "cuteembroidery" topic, and labeling them "tutorial", that way they can be easily found again. The instructions for using search functions follow as an answer to the question, so I can add pictures. I'll be glad if you appreciate this, but please put any comments other than questions pertaining to this topic in a separate post, just to keep this short & easy to read. Thanks!! Marji

If you notice in the picture below, in the box labelled "my favorite topics", I have entered "general". If you want, you can enter your favorite topic search in this box to make it easier to remember.

There are two tabs below the favorite topics box, "All topics" and "My Topics". There is a search box below the tabs. All topics is pretty self explanatory. "My Topics" are the tags you have put on your posts. If you click on that tab, you will have the choice of searching by that set of tags, excluding all others. For example, if you want to search for a post you made on "tips", you can choose the "My Topics" tab, then put "tips" in the search box, and all the posts you tagged as tips will come up. Easy way to find your previous posts, if you used helpful tags. You may not have in the past, but if you start now, this is a most helpful search function.

Under "All Topics", you will see that I have entered "tutorial" in the search box. Below that is a blue box telling me I can search for either one of those words. The search function on the website is very case sensitive and letter-sensitive. You will see that "tutorial" and "tutorials" are two SEPARATE searches. Some sites will find anything containing a letter set that you input (for instance, some places I go, if I search for "cat", I will also get "cat"erpillars), this site does not do that. It is very important that you use an agreed upon tag for anything you want everyone to find, as in freebies. Please see my post on that subject for more elaboration. You can also select any one of the tags printed below the box and click on it to search for that tag. The bolder letters on certain tags mean there are more posts in that category.

All of my posts on these instructions will be under the topic "Cuteembroidery", and tagged "tutorial" so that you may find them more easily.

Hope this is helpful!! Marji

Sort functions on left side of screen in Community section. Directly beneath the avatar, you will see "Topics". The website defaults to "all" when you go to the Community section. You can click on any one of the topics to search by that topic. This will work well if everyone agrees to use topics when they make their posts. For any freebies, collections people are following, alphabets, hunts, choose the "designs" category. For a voting request for Cute or Amazing, choose the 'voting-request' category. If there is a real problem with the site, choosing the "report-website-bug" category will enable Veronika to find and deal with bugs much more easily, as she checks that category every day. If you can't download, are getting errors, etc., this is the place to put it. I would also suggest an e-mail to Veronika if you're having a persistent problem that you can't resolve with help from the community. "Cuteembroidery" is the topic for anything related to Cute that isn't a website bug. For example, these tutorials will be under the topic Cuteembroidery, with the tag "tutorial" so they may be easily located.

This picture is of the "topics" bar at the left side of the screen in Community section, as well as a 'checked' post (mine). I will explain the checkmark first. Beside everyone's avatar is a grey checkmark, as you will see by toet's post in this picture. If you click on the checkmark, it turns orange, like the checkmark beside my avatar in the post below toet's. You can check and uncheck posts just by clicking on that mark, the same as you would "flag" an e-mail. When you have done that with posts you want to go back to, all you have to do is click on "marked", as explained in my other answer, and all of the posts you have marked will show up. This is a teriffically easy way to find posts again on a temporary or permanent basis. If you're following something temporarily, then you can uncheck it when you're done. If you want something permanently "on file", keep it checked, it will show up every time. The posts always show up in any search you do in the order of most recent post or answer. Even if you check them, they are not put in a file, it's only a search that brings them up for you, they will not necessarily be in the same order they were the last time you used the "marked" search.

Quick and easy way to find things in the Community section. The website is set up with built-in search functions. The first one I'm going to explain is the bar shown below. I think you're all familiar with the tabs, which show the Public, Personal, and Private areas. When you go to the Community section, the site defaults to the Public tab. Right below Public is a line that says "sort by". The first icon is a clock, and the site defaults to this sort. It shows the latest post, or the latest post to which an answer has been given. Answers bump the post to the top, comments to answers do not. If you have made a post and want to keep track, sometimes it's well to check back on that post, because some folks make comments instead of answers, and that will not bring the post back to the top, so you might not know the comment is there. The second icon is of course a flower, and you can search posts by the number of flowers each post has received. The third icon denotes answers, you can also search by the number of answers each post has received. These go from highest to lowest. These are fixed site searches, with no options to change the display. If you were searching for unanswered questions, for example, you would search by answers, then go to the last page to see if any posts were left unanswered.

On the same line, there is a search called "show". It defaults to "all", which is what most people would use. If you were looking for your own questions, click on "my questions", and all the posts you have made will be shown, sorted by time, the most recently answered first. If you are looking for an answer you gave, click on "my answers", the posts you answered will show up, sorted by the post with the most recent answer, not necessarily yours. "Marked" is a very useful sort. When you find a post you want to go back to, simply check mark it (this will be explained in the following answer) and sort by "marked". The posts will again show up in the order of most recently answered.
