what kind of needle should i use to embroider freestanding lace? a ballpoint?

I use a sharp #14. Be sure you are using the WS Mesh (2 layers is usually enough); not the clear stuff that looks like saran wrap. The clear kind is for topping.

Hi I use a 14 as well, I was told as the needle is moving so very fast it is better to have a needle with a larger hole so as to avoid thread breakage, whether this is true or not, don't know, but Ihave found the larger size better and its no ball point, ball point from memory is used mainly for stretch fabrics.

Thank you! i appreciate the help on this. i am about to do my very 1st FSL ornament and was a little apprehensive about what needle to use. going to do it now....

I use 14 sharp....but then I'm not a lace expert. :-) They seem to work for me however.

thank you...i was just wondering about it because i'd be using the wss stabilizer and was afraid it would get cut right out of the design by a sharp needle.....
