I have tried and it really works fine for those items that are slipery (ie. silk) and even when hooping WWS for FSL work, It helps the material to stay in place and avoid the pull.

This all sounds kind of confusing to me but I think I'll give it a try anyway...lol

The answer about using a non-slip material such as vet wrap or the nurses use to wrap your arm after drawing blood, is correct. Wrap only the inside hoop and not on the corners. It keeps the stabilizer and fabric from slipping when you embroider. I have used other things but the vet wrap works best. Stretch it as you wrap the lower hoop. Hoop as usual, tighten your screws. Another thing that works for slippage are clips. This prevents the gaps on the sides and top and bottom of the hoop. Do this after you have hooped everything. These are not paper clips but like a small clamp used to clip papers, etc., together. I have also used masking tape to wrap the sides, top, and bottom of the inside hoop. Hoop as usual. I think the rubberized shelf liner cut in strips would also work like the vet wrap. Just tug it as you wrap so it will stick to itself. Get the narrow ow thin liner.

Barb, wrapping a hoop is for your larger hoops - some times there is slipage between the center area of the hoop on the longest side and the material - I am using a flexible bandage on a small section of the lower hoop - even though I have screws on either end to tighten the hoop around the stablizer - it seems to gap slightly - I don't have a large amount of the flexible bandage - just enough to grip the stabilizer and not allow it to slip - I used to use gauze but that shreds and gets soiled over time. Now tell me about the headbands that you are trying to stitch and was that has to do with the wrapping the hoop part of this question?

No you then hoop as normal It just helps to stop the fabric from slipping

After the hoop is wrapped do you pin your fabric to the elastic??

I have done this:you use elastic which is used for swim wear, for the legs of swimmers. It is about
3-4mm wide and you just wrap it over and over the hoop by overlapping the last wrap, just enough to keep it secure.
It helps your hooped fabric from slipping..
do hope you understand what I mean.
There may be other ways of doing it also....

Wrapping is only done on the bottom hoop, not the top one.

I am not sure about this but I have seen where they hoop nonslip rubber with fabric and sablizer to stop fabric moving

what do the head bands have to do with the wrapping of the hoop?

blhamblen by blhamblen 29 Nov 2008

I thought that I could pin the headband to the elastic and not hoop the headband...Guess I'll have to come up with something else.

adelmarie by adelmarie 29 Nov 2008

Guess that does not have nothing to do with the "wrapping the hoop". What you want to do is just hoop the stabilizer by itself. You have two choices either sticky stabilizer or just use spray to stick the head band to the stabilizer and then embroider on it; known also as floating the fabric (in your case the head band)

Thanx for your tip...I'll try that instead.
