I have read and studied all the tutorials on the web for putting embroidery on a bar of soap. It was a big mess! Does anyone have a less messy, fairly quick method for doing this?

I think that I'm going to try this: Stitch design out on tulle. Trim close to the design. Mod Podge it onto the bar of soap. I'll let you know of it works!

Sorry you had a mess auntbaba. I have never had any problem. I stitch out a design on heavy WSS. Place the design in a bowl of water to dissolve the WSS. Then I blot out excess moisture and place it on the soap while the design is still wet. After it drys completely, it is stuck to the soap. To protect the design I dip just the top of the bar of soap with the design in parafin. Hope this helps.

I've heard of this also. Done lots of TP and want to try the soap thing. What type of stabilizer do you use?

Barb I have done a few soaps after I stitched out the design I glued it to the soap. I used gorilla glue to be sure it stuck but I am sure any glue will suffice. After I glued it I wrapped it in plastic wrap to keep the design stuck onto the soap flat, then set it by the heat vent to dry fast or in the summer set it out in the sun lol.

Very nice set, but what is gorilla glue??
Is it like super glue, what we call it???

Misscharlie, Your sets are beautiful!

TY all so much yes they were gifts, house warming for my daughter Sammi and GD Ella. Gorilla glue (brand name) is a super strong glue that takes time to set and adheres to anything. It is safer than super glue because it isn't fast setting/drying. It can be purchased everywhere, Joanns, walmart, hardware stores etc. A little pricey, but a good investment. It is a yellowish color when in liquid form, then in the setting process it becomes foamy then dries clear. Joanns also has a HUGE selection of glues and adhesives.

These are great. Guess I have to start makeing designs for the soap to add to the towel & tp sets.

I hope someone comes along with an answer. I've been thinking about doing some sets for Christmas, with the tp, towels and the soap. I like to know what I'm getting into! *4U Thanks for asking.
