I wonder if anyone embroidered with a WINGNEEDLE? I did a butterfly and it is beautiful. Can someone please tell me where to find more designs for the wingneedle??

Thank you for your input. The designs must be digitised for the wingneedle. Go to this site and scroll down to see it. Just wondered if there are any other sites.

I have used wingneedles in sewing but never embroidery. Learn something new every day. :) Was the butterfly designed to be stitched using a wingneedle or did you just try it? *4U

I down loaded one or two from one of the sites below, but haven't tried them yet. I have used the wing needle for heirloom work, so I think it would work for any open design like some of the redwork designs. Experiment and let us know.

It's called zwaardnaald in Dutch. Wordt vaak gebruikt voor open zomen.

It's a very wide needle, used for heirloom work. It punches a hole in the fabric as it stitches. It's a very beautiful effect. I posted a christening gown in projects a while back that uses one to insert the lace bow. I don't know if it shows up well enough in the photo. Perhaps boshoff will post her project.
