I have made some bookmarks and have used ribbon to attach to them. Does anyone know if there are tasseles that can be made in machine embroidery. Thanks

You got really good answers - if I am needing a small tassel I too buy the yard of tassels, and then have plenty of extras. I even saved the remnant tassels when I made the drapery swags for my daughter. Now have a few I can use.

Sally, let us know what you did. I have a couple tassel designs in the projects - not actual tassels - just a cute design - that you can attach at the end of your ribbon - that makes it fun to stitch in the same color as the bookmark. Hehehe! Take a look - better yet - post pictures of what you end up doing.

Sorry, I had five minutes to get to my doctor's appnt, then he kept me waiting half an hour. give me a few minute I'll scan the pictures i just drew, will make it easier for you to understand.
... Insert the needle between the 2 pieces of cardboard and go round and round the threads then secure by tying (needle thread) ends together.
Get a pair of scissors and insert between cardboard at the opposite end, cut the threads & remove cardboard.
Get more of the same thread and wind it around the top of the thread where you previously used the needle, (position wherever it looks best for size of tassle) tie the ends securely then trim the bottom of the tassle. Should take you longer to find some cardboard than it will to make the tassle. If you need more help, let me know.

Oh Heavens Girl, you can make tassles without embroidering them, So easy. Get two pieces of cardboard, the length of the tassle you want to make, put them together and wind a pretty thread, like crocheting cotton, around and around the length of the cardboard. when you have enough thread (guesswork) get a strong sewing needle thread it with the same thread.
Heavens, Gotta go, be back half hour to finish this, sorry

yep,and they are a pain in the derriere! Unless you need a specific color that you absolutely can't find, it's cheaper to buy them.;)

There are tassle designs out there to make with your emb machine but, they're not really cost effective. You can make them easily with hand embroidery floss. Or I'd agree with Misscharlie again and get the ones that are premade. Good question. *4U

You can buy "ropes" of tassles by the yd at walmart, at least thats what I do. Instead of trying to make or buying single ones for $1.00 ea. and up. Hope this helped. *
