I am really new at this. I grateful everyone is so nice. I want to make a pocket for a bag, I am wondering what would happen if I used pelon to embroidery on. Does that work well for that?

I have never embroidered on pellon but have used it to iron on fabric to give the fabric body. I would iron it on fabric & embroider the fabric & use it for a pocket with the pellon on backside of pkt. *4U

Claude, pellon is almost the same as wadding, that you put between the top and back of a quilt before it gets quilted. But it is thinner, and sometimes it has glue on the back so that, when you iron it, it will stick to the fabric. It is good to use for table runners, table cloths, wall quilts and bags, and anything that does not need to thick. It can be quilted. Hope you can understand this. Ricky.

Iron the pellon on to the fabric, then embroider. It is also a good idea to use pellon on the onside pocket to stop it from sagging.Line your pocket after you embroidered it and before you sew it on to the bag. If you need more instructions I can send them to you. My email is in my profile. There is glue only on one side of the iron pellon (You can use non iron pellon as well) so the pocket will not stick shut. This bag has a pocket at the front.Ricky.

You can attach pelon to a fabric and then embroider on that, but I'm not sure why you want to. If you are making a pocket to go onto a bag, you wouldn't want the pelon underneath, because it would iron the pocket shut, unless that's what you are going for? Give me some more details, and I will try and help you.;)

mpo14011 by mpo14011 04 Aug 2008

Pelon is a thin loose woven fabric used for pockets etc. Also used as a stiffener in ruffles and puff sleeves.

nonmusicmom by nonmusicmom 04 Aug 2008

Sorry I ment tight woven stiff fabric.

Pellon is a type of wadding used for wall quilts, bags, table runners etc. It does come in different thicknesses and you can have it iron on or non iron on. It is thinner then the normal wadding that you would use in quilts, therefore making it more useful for smaller items.
