Welcome! I usually download to hard drive, then would back them up on cd or memory stick. I find it easier to organize them in computer and that makes finding the design I want much easier.Have fun downloading all those cute designs! Flower 4 u

I have started to organize with sub catagories because the singles like animals were to big so I have animals they are divided into groups giraffes, dogs, cats, farm, wild. I also find it useful to use letter symbals. Like C for cartoon, R for realistic, CS cross stitch. Etc

NMM wanna come over and organize mine? It's a mess, wish I had found this site and been adopted months ago. I muddle thru and unzip and add to a file a couple everyday but for every one I get organized I DL 10 freebies and don't organize lol.

Hi Americangirl, I have a database file that has 84 folders titled by subjects. Within the folders are sub-folders to put designs by type of design, ie: FSL, Applique, filled, etc.... These are empty folders and I will send them to you in a zip file if you want. It would be a start on how to file your designs. Also, what Clawton said about adding the name of the place you D/L the design on EVERY design is a BIG plus. My email addy is in my profile-just click on my name! Bonita

When I download a design I also print a copy of it, this way I know where it came from and what it looks like. I also back up my designs from drive C on a memory stick.

I organize a lot like camylow by subject. It took too long to find the designs when stored by company/vendor. You may want to add the name of company some way in the title of the design so you will remember where you got it. It you start it now it will become a habit. I also keep a hard copy in notebooks of many of the design. I store on my harddrive. I backup my whole C drive on an external drive and use a flash drive/memory stick to backup just the designs.

I also use Flash Drives, but started out saving by company, and now am changing to save by object. It takes to long to find a certain design if I save by company. Sometimes I spend hours and then give up looking for a particular design I know I have SOMEWHERE. LOL. *4U. Gramsbear

I have mine all on flash drives... I keep outgrowing them, but they hold a lot more than a disk...

I am a beginner also. I have collected lots of designs. I sorted them out be animals, birds n bugs, florals, transportation, childrens, and misc. If you download them onto a disc, be sure to unzip the files and only
download the program that fits your machine. I made a mistake of downloading zip files and cannot open them up.
there are alot of sites that you can get real cute designs daily.....

Welcome to cute. Don't know if you just got a bad disk but zip files can be burned to a CD and be opened without any problems.
