Hi Cuties, does anyone know if you can download a design that you wrote on your pes design card back to your computer? I don’t know if I’m explaining very well.

In other words , when I take a design to my machine I have to first write it on a design card using PED Basic to stitch. Can a design be taken from the card back to the pc somehow? If so, please explain how.
I had a free design I downloaded years ago and I cannot locate it anywhere in my computer. I emptied the recycle bin a while ago and can’t find it in downloads or in my files. Just need to know if there’s a way to recover from the card. I’m so afraid I’m going to accidentally overwrite it and I really like the design. It stitched out well on clothing I made years ago for a Brazilian child.

Toogie, I have a manual for the basic. It looks like, on page 8, there might be instruction for saving the design. Would you like me to send you the pdf? I’m not certain, I never did that, and I haven’t used ‘basic’ in years.

I have the book, thank you. I’ll look to see what you read but it’s probably how to save a design to card or machine. I need to do the reverse. I don’t think it’s possible….

I'm not familiar with PED, but I can open designs from my old HV cards from the reader/writer device and resave or "Save as" to my computer to be used again. You may need to find someone who has a reader/writer device to assist you if you do not have your own. Good luck!

The PED is a reader writer software, but I don’t think I have a save option back from it to computer. I will check though just to be sure and let you know.

Nope, no way to save from card back to pc. It only has option to print, view, stitch colors and thread count.

When the card is "read," can you click (or double-click) on a single design to open it into the software?

Yes to look at, see the design and stitches, color changes, or print. That’s all the options though.

From that point, you should be able to do a 'save as'. I have the full version of PE Design so there may be a difference in your options. I have done it before but it's been awhile but I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it with the Disney designs. They were somehow locked where I couldn't even save them to the card though.

Hi Toogie, I think it may be possible if you are using the PE Design card. But, probably not. can you save it into your machine? I know Brother machines have a limited amount of space. Is it one you got from a Cutie?

Yes I am using the design card that came with my Brother PED Basic card writer. I thought of that but the lady I bought my machine from has crosses saved to machine memory I’d like to keep. I was hoping someone knew how to do a reverse action.
No design came from an embroidery site that I don’t think is up anymore.

Does your brother machine use thumb drives or floppies to transfer designs from the computer to your machine? If so can you transfer the crosses that are in the memory to them and upload them to your computer to free up the machine memory? Then if you put the new design you want to save into the machine memory you could then also transfer it back again to your computer with the floppy or thumb drive.

Is this a very old brother machine? Does it only use memory cards? Mine has a slot for memory cards but also has a slot below it to attach a thumb drive. I have never had to use a memory card. Sorry.
