Hi Cuties, This afternoon I started with making a 6.5 in Star then added around to finish at 12.5 inches. It looks too big for a potholder(?) to me and that’s what I wanted it to be ….so… what could it be used for? A candle mat? I don’t know…have I just wasted my afternoon?…

UPDATE-I didn’t think I could make a 4.5 in pieced Star and it come out square, without paper piecing, but I did. (Ignore the pinked edge. I had already pinked it and pressed when I saw I had sewn the wrong edge together .)
I used the small Star center in the second one and then made it finish at 8.5. I have to quilt it but look at the difference in sizes with them together.
UPDATED again-lol- I decided to skip the John Wayne movie so I could quilt and finish the smaller one.

I think this is beautiful no matter the size. I agree with dragonflyer, it is a great size to use as a hot pad to protect any surface. It would be pretty on aside table too.

Thank you, I decided last night to make a third one, but the 8.5 inch size. I will update to add the three together when I go to my phone.

These will go to the man’s wife that was going to let us pick up pecans. He’s bringing us some already picked and shelled!

At 12.5 inches square it’s not long enough for a runner, maybe you meant a table topper though. Thanks

It is really pretty! So many things could be sat on the center. Perfect for the holidays. I am not fond of wall hanging quilts, but this would look good hanging in a window, or I would put my egg nog cup on it (for sure would do that). Your time was not wasted at all! Love it! Hugs and Merry Christmas to you and your family, Suzanna P.S. I hope Your hubby is better from the cut.

Hubby is all healed up. Ashley, our youngest took staple out after our Thanksgiving meal. He even shelled pecans today-lol
Thanks, not sure what I’ll do with it but the second one is a better size for a hot pad.

Thanks, the second one may be a more usable size. Time will tell.
