Well, I guess I will go against the grain here... I have used this for over five years and the only issue I have ever had is using too much in the beginning...that said, if you use too much of any of the adhesive sprays it causes the same issues. The only advice I can give is to use it much way more sparingly than you think...much less than 505 spray...a very quick spritz is all that is needed. I can only say you need to try it and make up your own mind for your own use. I don't bother with 505 anymore...I will add that if it is possible, I try not to use any adhesive spray in the stitch area if that is possible. Most of my applications involve tacking for ITH projects where all that is really needed is the perimeter tack down of fabrics and batting...So I guess, to each his own.
Thanks Kim.
I’ve never had any issues, but kept seeing things about 505.
I have a couple more cans of it - lol. I had bought one (cheaper than 505) and seemed ok and then I ended up getting 2 almost full cans at garage sales (in with other stuff). I had checked at the time for 505 and Walmart was carrying it -but they don’t now and I’d have to go to the city to get some. Elmers is much cheaper.
Guess I’ll keep using what I have.
I generally use Dritz Temporary Spray Adhesive. No problems with gummy needles. However, I believe Dritz has increased the price to make it more costly than 505.
I Use 505 also.. IT does not gum up the needle or the machine. Your spay is more for crafts. Check with your dealer to find out more. I get mine from Alstitch. Cheaper than anywhere else. Good luck!!
Yes. Elmer's is more for craft projects. My dealer/repairman told me to only use the 505 because all the other ones gum up the inner works of the embroidery machines.
