Currently I am having fun sewing small pieces of fabric together in long strips. To keep the width the same I am using the remains of a till roll from my local supermarket which I flip and stitch each piece of fabric too. These two strips were sewn yesterday. Progress is slow, I am having fun and when enough strips are sewn they will be sewn together and eventually they will become a quilt too. Not bad for a load of scrap fabric. It’s going to be ages before I reach toogies levels of work. Well to be honest highly unlikely

I love it! It's going to be beautilful. How do you tear away the paper after it's sewn? Does it tear easily. That's a brilliant idea.

Excuse me for jumping in, but what I do to tear the paper away and not the stitches, is use a small stitch length. On my machine the default setting, when you turn it on is 2.5, so I go down to 1.8. As there are different machines yours may default differently. The small stitches allow the paper to come away better, but I always start and stop with a back stitch too, so my seams won't come apart at the edges. I used adding machine tape you can buy at Walmart and it's about 2.5 in wide. After your length is sewn, flip it over and use the edge of the adding tape to trim. Everything is so neat then. crafter2243 has made one and posted here and so have I. Mine is with denim and Crafter's is with gray background, if memory serves me correctly....speaking of crafter, has anyone heard from her lately? I haven't and was wondering.....

What a great way to use your fabric stash. I'm going to enjoy watching your progress on this quilt.

These make pretty quilts, especially if used as sashing around a square of fabric.
