Someone who knows more than I do - what is the difference between a JPG and a PDF file? Is is the size of the file or just that they are managed and controlled by different companies, such as Microsoft, or is it something else? I have always been thinking of them as the same thing, but they are not, right? Just want to understand.

Both JPG and PDF files can contain the same type information and are used for saving and sharing data. The following link will provide you with more information about the similarities and differences and when to use one vs the other.

JPG is a picture. A JPEG is the same type of picture. The shorter version was to accommodate Microsoft. There are many kinds of pictures. They can all be edited easily.
A PDF file is a document or picture that requires special software to edit the file. Adobe has software to create and edit PDF. They have had it for a long time. It is expensive! There are others now that have software to create and edit. They are more reasonably priced but don't have all the features. They work well enough for me.

Hi Grace, a jpg is a picture/drawing and a PDF is text and perhaps pictures. The pdf might be instructions of how to make the design. They are two different types of files. Hope this helps Dolly
