Had this huge square polyester print scarf I made years and years ago to match a lined skirt [I no longer have] just folded in a drawer. I decided to make a blouse out of it. Folded it like a rectangle and drew out my neckline then cut into it. Stitched up the sides wide enough to fit my body comfortably and thinking about how to finish the neckline--was going to use a square piece of organdy and sew a seam around the neckline--cut and fit it like a facing, but, remembered I had some crochet trim I ripped off of something years ago too. I pulled it out, pinned to the front and tried on to make sure it didn't flip over on itself. It laid flat so I continued stitching it on. I am pleased with the results.

I really enjoy seeing the crochet trim on this top! It is a great finishing touch!

Thank you. I could only wish I could remember what I took the old crochet trim off of. I have some of my grandmother's [mom's mom] things but I just don't rememmber. Glad I had it though and it worked out.

Yes, was dabbling one day and thought of this so checked my scarf drawer---so many are still sitting folded.

You are the queen of repurposing items and fabric. One again you have turned a no longer used item into something that is not only useful again, but also pretty.

I have several of these and I do a roll hem stitch around the neck looks good and is simple to do.

On this scarf, when I originally made it, I rolled hemmed all the way around it so all edges are finished that way--it was when I cut the neck opening I thought I'd just use a square of organdy and stitch the seamline, clip, turn and trim off excess--well, I thought about my lace box and went to that instead and found this old piece of crochet I'd ripped off of something and most likely something of my grandma's [German from TX] I have a few beautiful old pieces from slips and things. It worked and I was happy about that. Since I had cut a little meander curve I was afraid to try just a rolled hem on that neck.

Just like the song, "Everything old is new again." It's a wonderful look and I hope you get many more years of pleasure out of this beautiful fabric.

Yes, I'll wear it and enjoy it. It is a pretty fabric. I just wished I had my skirt back. Shoot, I might fit in it again---who knew!
