Snippers. I need to get some new ones, heavy duty for a raggy quilt, actually 2 and they are heavy denim. What do you recommend?

I don’t have an opinion about the rag quilt scissors, sorry. I just wanted to say that I started one 12 years ago when I saw Sheila’s grand baby Luke had one. It was a John Deer tractor rag quilt and I thought it was so pretty. John my nephew, Luke’s dad, told me Mrs Emily P____ made it for the baby. I didn’t know Mrs Emily 12 years ago. However, she is in my sewing group I joined 3 years ago so I know her now. She mentioned the other day she was snipping the edges of a rag quilt. I told her about seeing Luke’s 12 years ago. She told me that she had made it. I told her yes, I knew, because John had told me but I didn’t know her then. A small world after all, as it’s been said.Anyway, I told Emily I quit making on mine because it hurt my hands to snip all those edges. She told me she has a pair of spring action scissors she uses. I’m not sure the brand though. Good luck and be sure to show us your finish. I might dig mine out one day and finish, who knows.-lol

I have Fiskars spring action and they work great even for denim.
I liked them so much, I ended up buying 2 more later. So now I have 3 pairs and keep them at each machine.

I have several pairs of Gingher, Fiskars and Gunold scissors and all work well for me. I do recommend that you start with either a new pair or a newly sharpened pair. And remember to rest your hands. No carpal tunnel please.

I remember a few years back I made three raggy quilts for my grandkids who were coming for a visit. I waited till I had all finished before I snipped them. I could barely use my hands the whole time they were here! No more of that!

Kai Scissors are my "go to" scissors above all others. I have been using them for over 10 years and I have never had a pair that was not wicked sharp! They offer free shipping within the continental US and free sharpening if needed (you send them prepaid and they return them prepaid...so one way shipping only). They also have a couple of sales throughout the year. Here is a video link to the ones I have for rag quilts and lots of other things.....

I have Heritage Cutlery Rag Quilting Snips; I think I used them a couple of times. I am left-handed but use right-handed scissors, these are comfortable using with my left hand.

Thanks, I'll check those out. I have a few days before I'm ready to start snipping!

I used these for fleece quilts; the spring action really helps your hands out but I'm not sure how they would work on denim. Fiskars 8.5 Inch Softouch Spring Action Rag Quilter Snip

Thanks, those are the ones I was considering. The price is reasonable, and Fiscers is a brand I feel I can trust.
