These bags of fabric (not the orange bag) have all been passed on to me. The fabric is the stash that a friends mum built up over the years. Sadly my friends mum has died and as often is the case no one in the family creates anything that uses fabric. I have found this to be very sobering and it’s making me realise I need to use more and buy less. The fabric isn’t staying with me as I’m the dropping off point, it is being passed on to be used by the local Linus project group. Unfortunately the bridge has been closed out of town as the river is flooding due to the excessive rain we’re having so the fabric is still with me. So to finish, enjoy your stash, use it, create some great stuff don’t horde.

I'm thankful all of the fabric will not go to waste. Too often, I have heard of the fabric, yarn and so on were tossed into a dumpster. I find that so sad when it could be used in so many ways to help people in need.

Of course I have a stock, I use it and create new things and of course something suitable is always missing. I am glad that I have so much fabric, in the Corona time many stores are closed and the fabric markets are only in the summer, it is good to draw from a large assortment.....

I too found my stash invaluable during lockdown. I too never have exactly what I want when needed but one tries not to buy too much too often

Hi Caroline, always a good thing to remember. I have so much fabric and will never use it all, but I belong to the Newcastle Sewing Guild and every now and then I donate a huge wad of fabrics and we make all sorts of things for women's refuges. I'm also in the same boat as your friend, as no-one in my family (at the moment) sews besides me.
Hope you had a wonderful new year's celebration even though you are 'flooded' in. I hope the bridge opens soon and you can deliver your 'goodies' to the Linus club. Love Chris

No homes/buildings are flooded just the area round the bridge which floods a number of times yearly. When I next collect the car to go out I will load the fabric up and deliver it the couple of miles its now to travel

I’ve been giving it my best shot!-lol
In the past I’ve been gifted a loved ones stash but I guess no one hoards batting. I still have to buy that for my quilts. I met up with Kathy, the one I roomed with, on some of our trips and she said she is burnt out and taking a break from quilting. I guess we all have these times we go through.

This is a good point. I use to make Christmas fabric bags. We have a large family and to save money and paper - we would wrap presents in tissue paper and slip into a fabric bag that had ribbon within the top part of the casing and add a label. So, I have a good size stash of Christmas fabric. I should make Christmas potholders, mug-rugs, coaster, table runners, microwave bowl holders, etc. and use up some of that fabric. Thanks for the reminder!! Hugs to you and stay safe with all the flooding!

Thanks for replying and no one is wet because the river is up it just means that long diversions happen. Millions is being spent on a new bridge as the old one is very old and not built to cope with modern traffic
