I have enjoyed reading about everyone's sewing room. It is good to know I am in good company.

Does anyone get excited when they open a color of thread that they have not used before? I have only been embroidering for three years, have two different brands of thread, 120 spools each plus variegated, metallic and a few others. Every time a new color is unwrapped, I get so excited thinking there is a reason for all this thread. Also, the same with fabric that has been on the shelf for a while and finally gets used. One more question Is over 260 spools of thread excessive? I keep trying to convince myself it is not.

Hi Pam, no that's not excessive. When one of our older members Shirlene was on here, I wrote to her asking if I could get the whole set of the Metro thread (5000M) as they wouldn't send them to me in Australia. So I asked her if she would get them sent to her. I of course had to pay more coming from Australia. I also paid her to send them to me in 3 different postings So they ended up costing me a fortune!
Anyway, I've still got hundreds of thousands of metres left! Along with me buying Robison Anton from my local Thorpes Sewing shop and Zig Zag sewing shop and Hemingworth threads from Echidna up in Brisbane I have 220 of those. So adding the two lots I'd have approximately 364 give or take a couple. I know others on here would have much more than me!
I tend to go through thousands of metres of red, green and gold, mainly due to my Christmas fetish! Love Chris
The picture below is the Metro Thread collection I have.

NO NO NO never too much. All this abundance of material thread etc keeps the psychiatrist away and you know how much that would cost. That was always my argument to my husband. Enjoy it.

Now are your spools large - 5000m long or smaller? Seriously I have no idea how many reels of thread I own but yes it is exciting to open new thread. I have always seen buying fabric and anything to do with it as an investment. During lockdown I had all the supplies I needed and I was able to let my neighbour have stuff too. So your another member of the chaotic craft room?

That's a great start for your thread stash. I don't think any of us could ever have too many thread colors, types of thread, fabric and so on. Just enjoy creating with what you have and enjoy adding to that stash as time goes by.

260, Beginner, beginner. Enjoy them all. And, yes, I love starting a brand new spool out off the wrapper. It's like beginning again.

After three years I still feel like a beginner. It is good to know it would not be excessive to add a few more Spools.

Are you kidding me, sis?!? Of course, 260 is NOT excessive. (I still have a lead in thread and DESIGNS and likely fabric, too. LOL)

I know you are ahead of me in designs and fabric. Keep in mind, up until three years ago, I had a small amount of fabric, no designs nor thread.
