Hi Cuties, this is for Toogie. She wanted to see Amy’s little cottage before and after (when their new house will be built) These pictures show the outside and inside a couple of the rooms. The little Scandinavian shack down the back of the property is being sold on Gumtree, an Australian buying site.

Left hand top picture - front of home
Top right - Kitchen
Middle right - lounge room
Lower left - outside verandah with Scandinavian shack down the back of the property
Lower right - Amy and Steve’s bedroom
Far bottom right - the inside of the Scandinavian shack!
Love Chris

I can understand why they are knocking it down ,cost of repairs & lack of space inside & other problems justifies the decision. In a year they will have their perfect forever home.

Thank you for showing us the 'old house' and I look forward to the pictures of the new. I love the natural woods from the tables to the ceiling. I do like old things, but when the old is giving you so much trouble, it's time to do something, especially the mold. I know they will be happier in a new build and healthier too. They must be so excited! How long is the new build suppose to take?

I'm so glad Steve and Amy have said good bye to their old cottage. Old homes have a lot of history but too often are not the healthiest places to live in. And soon they will move into their new home. And the memories will continue to be made. And in the meantime, what a wonderful time you will all have. I hope Maisie's leg heals and becomes strong again. And in the meantime I'm sure there are lots of hugs and cuddles with all 2 and 4 legged inhabitants.

Thanks Chris. Looks idyllic but... My house is almost 170 years old but doesn’t have the problems Amy’s has. Our last home was built by my husband. I’m sure they are enjoying their new home and looking forwards to the new build. Are many doing as they are?

Hi Caroline, yes, there are a lot of old houses in Merewether that people are demolishing and rebuilding. As Steve loves to keep tradition, he is keeping the floorboards and he has some lovely timber from his early days working at a Marina and will repurpose that too. He loves recycling. They love living with us and keep thanking us for letting them stay here. Maisie loves me and has been by my side all day. She needs to rest her leg as she has a weakened ligament in her back left knee. Love Chris

Ha ha ha! No not really, they've been in there 13 years and at 112 years old, everything was falling apart. The roof out the front has water constantly running down that little pipe attached to the carport. Mould is everywhere and Merewether (their suburb) is renowned for huge Cockroaches!! The stove/oven was gross and the shower rose leaked constantly!! So they are really happy to be living with us and once in a brand new home!! Love Chris

When we knocked down our old house ,the house we rented while the new one was being built ,ended up being called Roach mansion. We had never seen so many cockroaches .It was only about 20yrs old & well maintained but the roaches loved it.
