Lockdown has certainly given me time to clean out loads of things I just do not need any more.

I came across this X stitch pattern which I must have had for years. It is not a kit, so no Aida or threads. Having been a great X stitcher before I found machine embroidery I decided to have a go. Luckily I had all the colours needed.

I has been quite a challenge as I have arthritis in my right fingers. I have probably unpicked more than I have sewn but I am determined to finish and frame it for our bedroom.

That is so pretty, great work!! The finished design will be a keepsake. Years ago I did embroidery by hand. A few years back thought I would start again. Between the arthritis in the fingers and vision being not as good, hand embroidery was not fun.

I am loving it. Unfortunately my machine embroidery is taking a back seat

This is so pretty - you are a patient person - hand embroidery takes patience and skill - I tried years ago!! Can't wait to see the finished product!! Hugs, Laura

My mother used to do beautiful hand embroidery. Cross stitch is so much easier

Looks great so far! I think your plan to do a little bit every day is a good one.

I think we all have some UFOs. I just gave some of the kits I still had to my granddaughter. She enjoys doing X-stitch. After getting a embroidery machine I no longer do hand embroidery.
Sarah it will be beautiful once finished. You have a great start. I would love to see the finished product even if it takes a long time.

I am making myself do a bit each day but I cannot X stitch in the evening as my eyesight is just not good enough.
I haven’t used my embroidery machine for ages and I really must as I have dog blankets to do. My problem is, I get so involved with something that I forget all about other things I have to do.

I do the same.

It looks lovely so far. I'm pretty sure, I, too, could find several kits that have never been started. I used to do a lot of cross stitch, but then I discovered machine embroidery... I can't wait to see the finished piece framed and hanging in you bedroom.

Lovely picture. I gave up cross stitching many years ago when my eyes started downhill. Recently I have taken up Diamond Painting. It is similar to paint-by-number only with small glistening dots placed on a sticky canvas. Very relaxing. Hugs. Nan

I have only just started. Got the kit at JoAnn fabrics on sale and decided to try an easy one first. Just type in diamond painting and you will see all types, from simple to very detailed to even custom. A kit has everything you need to complete the project. Perhaps next time I will venture out to more detailed. It has been very calming for me.
