Update: Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement. Caden is definitely feeling more confident about having seizures and have seen some positive results from his medication. He is still worried about what will happen when school restarts, but that does not appear to be happening until the fall. Thank you again.

We had an interesting Easter this year, as I am sure all of you had with social distancing and lockdowns. While we were eating dinner, Caden, the 12 year old who has all the emotional problems, PTSD, and ADHD asked "why is my arm jerking?' We didn't pay to much attention, because Well, itl's Caden. The next thing we know, is he is staring, his face turns beat red, his eyes roll to the back of his head and he stiffens out just like a board and one arm is slowly jerking. We got him to the floor and on his side. Had DH call 911. By the time medical personel got there, Caden was starting to come around. They took him to the hospital( only one person could go with him) because he had never had anything like this before. We thought maybe some of his meds needed to be changed as he had recently started on a couple of new ones. However, after testing a few days later, it was determined that he has myotonic epilepsy with tonic and absence seizures. We have been learning all we can about this. Caden is afraid that he will not be able to do the things he wants to do and that everyone will treat him differently. So lots of teaching and reassurance with him. If you would say a prayer for him, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the update on Caden. I'm so happy the medication is helping. And thank goodness he will have several months to adapt to both his new condition and the medication. Please give him a hug from the cuties and remind him we are still praying for him.

Thanks for the update on Caden. From my previous life as a teacher in a number of schools in the UK all pupils with health issues were known to the staff. I am sure that where you are will be the same. I always remember one pupil telling me he had a headache. He had health problems that could cause life threatening headaches - I must have registered something facially as internally I went on to overdrive and the reply came back no miss not one of those headaches. Caden will be fine and there is a long time between now and September.

Oh! Debbie, I feel for you and your whole family. I do pray that Cayden can get the right medication to help him and I agree with the others below. Maybe talk with others who have similar issues. I'll keep him in my prayers. Love Chris

Yes, I will pray for Caden and I agree with O2kar, it will be so helpful to reassure him to talk to another YOUNG person with seizures to find out how it all goes at school. The guidance counselor at the school can probably help you find a family to talk to. Or maybe, the doctor's office.

What a scary Easter you and Caden had! Poor Caden! I'm so sorry he has to go through this and worry about being different because he might have a seizure. I hope the meds work very well for him and that he is able to talk to someone who has this diagnosis. Please tell him he is loved and we are praying for him

Poor Caden! I remember when Avery started with seizures....hers had been under control, pretty much, until last year. Medication adjustment/change was needed........of course he needs prayer.
I haven't heard of this type, but we had a couple of children on my bus with seizures. One child had several on the bus, but thank goodness didn't last long.
So scary for him and y'all.

Oh, of course, Caden is in my prayers - bless his heart! So hard, because at his age no one wants to be different! Let us know how he is doing! Hugs and stay safe! Laura
