If I did keep it, I would make a shadow box and attach all things such as this. Little shelves for old thread/ thimbles etc. I'm really of two minds. I like grouping up my treasures and putting on display.
Good question since I have fabric that is decades old myself. But I'm rapidly losing my desire to keep things. So I vote to keep a picture of it to treasure the memory and then use it. Pray over the mask or masks it makes and imagine the relief of the person who receives the mask. Blessings on you for helping others during this uncertain time.
I think I would you use it, when it's still in good shape, because it can help to make the needed masks . In my experience some old things that are a treasure for me, are not the same treasure for my children, they think it's old stuff... So I suggest use it for making the needed masks and it will be so useful, your mom or aunt would agree in this situation.....Hugs, Gerry
Last year I found some cards of bias binding from last century, that I had in a plastic box.The binding had cardboard centre which had left age marks on the binding.I soaked the binding in napisan & most of the marks came out.I went through other sewing items & removed any cardboard or paper which lace ,binding etc were wound around.
I have deiced to try to use up all my sewing items because there is no one who would be interested in using them.
That is tough to answer. If I still had material to make my own bias I probably would keep the one from Mom. After that I think that it would be better served to possibly help someone to survive this virus. Then the question arises what would happen to this treasure after you are gone? Would someone really treasure it because it is from grandma?
