We have been told to Shelter in Place in our county and many counties near us in California to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. This means stay home except for essential needs. It starts tonight at midnight. I work at a bank so I still go to work. It’s already been eerily quiet around town but it’s going to get worse. At the same time I’m hearing stories of long grocery lines and basic foods and supplies are sold out.

I hope everyone around the world takes care to help slow the spread of the virus and I hope a vaccine is available soon.
Interestingly, 2 of my 4 children thanked me for teaching them to be organized and well stocked.

Panic buying is also here in South Africa. Stay safe Cuties and keep washing those hands.

The consequences of this virus is serious. I had plans that may not happen. I pray for my small family that we all survive as I hear on the news the counts increase surprisingly fast. I especially am concerned for family members who are traveling and may not be able to get home for awhile. Who likes powdered milk?

I grew up on powdered milk because my mom had to save money. I DO NOT like it!

I am with you on that!

Rub the powder between your fingers till it is fine. Then place in a blender and use ice cubes as 1/3 of your water. Add (I promise) a pinch of pink artificial sweetener. I raised my children on it! We were poor.

Here in Australia the roads are pretty much empty as are the shops, Woolworths opened at 7am for us pensioners but there was nothing on the shelves by 7.15am so got no supplies. I am hoping this will pass quickly we have a holiday to the USA/Canada booked and payed for early May to July and really really want to visit.
Update: looks like we are postponing our holiday until 2021 our Prime Minister told us this morning there is a travel ban to any country and this maybe for at least 6mths :(

I'm in WA and we've closed our borders. I'm also in rural WA and believe that our regions are being closed off too (ie Central West/Midwest/Eastern etc). We rely on produce from other states (and countries) so it's pretty skint here too.

My understanding is it will take about a year and a half for vaccine to be produced. just take it one day at a time.

You are right. Even if they find a vaccine today it will take a l o n g time to test it before it can be used for humans.

My daughter came over today and I had asked her to pick up some of the creamer for my coffee (She will not let me go shopping being ancient and having COPD). She told me no milk, eggs or produce among other things in the whole grocery store. I do not understand. How can one hoard these items.
I am with you. May everyone take care and follow the "stay home, save lives" so we can get through this virus.

This too will pass in time. We will get through it with God's help

Staying home is relatively easy if you have a garden. I really feel for people living in appartement buildings and hope they will be able to keep their sanity occupying their children indoors while all schools are closed.
