I do this myself. I don't use pe next but you should be able to change the stitch selection type. You can download the digital manual that will allow you to search for zigzag and it will take you to the pages that mention it for step by step instructions. In my software I can choose the stitch type i need and then digitise where I need those stitches to go, or I can digitise as straight stitch then change it to suit my needs after.

13241Guessing you have finished your project but wanted to say there are zig zag designs available that you could add to your design.
just type in zig zag machine embroidery and I am sure you will find them.

thank you. I had forgotten that I asked about it here, and so forgot to say that I think I had it figured out based on what you and the others have said.
29723there are a lot of tutorials on u tube for pe des.next, I have pe des.10 and I downloaded the you tube videos to my laptop and watched them while I was using pe10 on my desk top, it was very easy to follow doing it that way....wendy

That's what I did--took it over to my sewing machine and finished the edge. I just wondered if it would be possible to add something like that to a design. Right now, it looks as difficult as brain surgery to me!
